Election ads running on Google and YouTube that are created with artificial intelligence will soon have to carry a clear disclosure, according to new rules created by the company. The policy will take effect in mid-November and will require election advertisers to disclose that ads containing AI-generated elements have been computer-generated or do not show real events. Election ads that have been digitally created or altered must include a disclosure such as, "This audio was computer-generated," or "This image does not depict real events." Google and other digital ad platforms such as Meta's Facebook and Instagram already have some policies around election ads and digitally altered posts. In 2018, for example, Google began requiring an identity verification process to run election ads on its platforms.

LONDON, June 29 (Reuters) - The European Union said on Thursday that member states and the European Parliament have reached a deal on updating the bloc's "MiFID" securities trading rules. The EU has been reviewing its securities trading rules to reflect advances in trading technology and also the departure of Britain from the bloc, presenting new competition to EU markets. "The agreement reached today imposes a general ban on 'payment for order flow' (PFOF), a practice through which brokers receive payments for forwarding client orders to certain trading platforms," a statement from the EU member states' council said. Under the deal, member states that already allow PFOF will be exempt from the ban provided it is only offered to clients in that member state. The deal, which needs formal rubber-stamping from the full parliament and EU states, also sets up 'consolidated tapes' that would give investors a snapshot of stock and bond prices on markets to help find the best deals.

Seventeen former branches of SVB will begin operating as “Silicon Valley Bank, a division of First Citizens Bank,” on Monday, First Citizens said. Financial regulators are discussing two different facilities to manage the fallout from the closure of Silicon Valley Bank if no buyer materializes, according to a source close to the situation. One way that the regulators would step in would be to create a backstop for uninsured deposits at Silicon Valley Bank, using an authority from the Federal Deposit Insurance Act, according to the source. The move would also touch the systemic risk exception that allows the Fed to take extraordinary action to stem contagion fears. Regulators shut down Silicon Valley Bank on Friday, marking the largest U.S. bank failure since 2008. The Fed and FDIC will present these proposals to the Treasury before any action is taken.
