GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin woman convicted of killing and dismembering a former boyfriend and scattering his body parts at various locations was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without parole. A Brown County judge sentenced Taylor Schabusiness, 25, for the February 2022 killing of Shad Thyrion, 24. Prosecutors said Thyrion and Schabusiness had smoked methamphetamine in the basement of Thyrion’s mother’s Green Bay home before Schabusiness strangled, decapitated and dismembered him. Schabusiness’ defense attorney, Christopher Froelich, told the court she would speak on her own behalf before Walsh sentenced her. But when the judge asked Schabusiness if there was anything she’d like to say, she replied simply, “No, there isn’t."

All are accused of running afoul of the state's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations, or RICO, law. “You can tell a great story in your indictment, and you might be able to prove it. “The problem with RICO is that it takes a lot longer because there are so many more elements to it,” said Jerry Froelich, a Georgia criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor. In RICO cases, defendants are often loosely associated, making it easier for prosecutors to get them to "flip," or turn on one another. Georgia courts have upheld the law’s use in novel contexts that include Willis' successful prosecution of teachers who falsified scores on standardized tests.

Kristopher Fador is Bank of America's new chief information security officer, succeeding Froelich. Craig Froelich is taking the helm as the chief information officer of architecture, developer experience, and policy, a newly created role at Bank of America. Froelich previously served as chief information security officer for the nation's second-largest bank, a role he held for more than eight years.
