It comes after two incidents on Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 Max jets last year. On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration announced it was convening a review board to address an issue with the CFM LEAP-1B engine that powers the Boeing 737 Max. Coming up with that could further delay the certification of its 737 Max 7 and 737 Max 10 jets — the shortest and longest versions of Boeing's newest narrow-body plane.

Yelloh, Formerly Schwan’s Home Delivery, Closes
  + stars: | 2024-11-22 | by ( Aimee Ortiz | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
Yelloh, the frozen food delivery service formerly called Schwan’s Home Delivery, which had once been known for its reach with rural Americans and its direct-to-consumer business model, is closing its doors on Friday after decades of decline. Minnesota-based Yelloh was born on March 18, 1952 when its founder, Marvin Schwan, delivered 14 gallons of ice cream. The service’s popularity exploded over the years and later foods frozen at their peak made it onto the menu. The Schwan’s name lives on in frozen foods (Red Baron, Freschetta, and Mrs. Smith’s are among their many brands) — that side of the business was sold to CJ CheilJedan, a South Korean company, in 2019. But on Nov. 8, Yelloh permanently parked its fleet of refrigerated trucks that, with their yellow décor, were once instantly recognizable in small towns across America.

The vast networks of data cables that crisscross our world's oceans are crucial for almost every aspect of modern life. Related Video Ukraine's sea drones vs. Russia's Black Sea FleetDespite their importance, events this week have highlighted just how vulnerable the West's internet subsea cables are to attacks from hostile powers. Unlike Russia, whose internet cables mostly run overland, the cables Western countries rely on are deep under the sea — and it's an asymmetrical vulnerability Russia is signaling it could exploit. Tesla shares jumped on Monday following a report that President-elect Donald Trump's transition team are planning to make a federal framework to regulate self-driving vehicles a top priority for the U.S. Transport Department. ET, Tesla stock was up 7.98% in U.S. premarket trading after the release of the Bloomberg News report, which cited unnamed sources familiar with the matter. CNBC could not independently verify the report and has requested comment from the Trump team and from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a Transportation Department unit tasked to oversee self-driving technologies. Full Self-Driving, or FSD, is Tesla's premium driver assistance system, currently available in a "supervised" version for Tesla electric vehicles. CNBC's Jim Cramer made the case for owning Tesla stock, saying it's worthwhile not because President-elect Donald Trump reportedly wants to relax U.S. self-driving rules, but because of CEO Elon Musk himself. "While I don't buy the national self-driving mandate, I think nothing truly dulls the case for owning Tesla," he said. "The Musk premium will work its magic in other ways, perhaps favorable municipalities and Tesla rentals next to federal highways." But Cramer suggested that the Trump team's plans for autonomous vehicles might be easier said than done. Cramer also stressed that Tesla stands apart from its EV peers because of its tech focus.

But price rises in Russia are eye-watering by comparison – and just one symptom of an economy that is overheating. “Prices are rising because of the war,” Alexandra Prokopenko at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin told CNN. The military budget will rise by nearly a quarter in 2025, amounting to one-third of all state spending and 6.3 per cent of gross domestic product. Analysts don’t see the Russian economy as tumbling over a precipice but instead as a slowly gathering crisis. Russia has traditionally turned to central Asia for unskilled labor, and Putin recently suggested more foreign workers are needed.

The C-Lion1 cable that connects Helsinki to Rostock in Germany was built and is operated by Cinia, a state-controlled Finnish company. Known as the “dancing mouse” due to its slippery movements in that final, fatal fight with the Imperial Japanese Navy, the destroyer USS Edsall went down off the coast of Australia in 1942, under the command of Lt. Joshua Nix. Speaking alongside Kennedy, Australia’s chief of navy, Vice Adm. Mark Hammond, said the wreck was found with the help of advanced hydrographic survey capabilities aboard naval support ship MV Stoker. “Nix’s position was hopeless from the moment Edsall was sighted,” Cox wrote.
