They're seeking $38 million paid to PACs and political nonprofits ahead of the 2022 elections. The lawsuits are seeking some $5 million from four groups affiliated with Democrats and $1.8 million from FWD.us, a bipartisan nonprofit founded by Mark Zuckerberg. A Republican super PAC also led by Law, the Senate Leadership Fund, received $3.5 million in FTX funds in August and October 2022 that a separate lawsuit argues must be returned. "We're reviewing the complaint and will take appropriate action," a Senate Leadership Fund spokesperson, Torunn Sinclair, said. Under current federal law, an undocumented person who enters the United States and marries a US citizen must first request parole before applying for legal residency. Lawful permanent residency, commonly known as obtaining a green card, allows immigrants to live and legally work in the United States. Some Democrats in the Senate praised Biden’s executive order while those in vulnerable seats tried towing a line. Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat in a vulnerable seat, also declined to say if he supports Biden’s executive order. However, he did praise Biden’s executive order from earlier this month aimed at restricting border crossings.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate's border proposal was one of the toughest bipartisan bills to emerge on the issue in decades. Republicans have campaigned on border security for years, and public frustration is running high with the record number of illegal U.S. border crossings. Cruz’s likely Democratic opponent, Texas Rep. Collin Allred, said he’s already talking about the border deal on the campaign trail. Murphy agreed that Democrats should remain committed to broad immigration reforms, including pathways to citizenship for migrants who are already here. The White House is preparing to take executive action to protect hundreds of thousands of immigrants known as “Dreamers,” people close to the White House told NBC News, as the Biden administration braces for a potential court defeat that could end the decade-old Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Circuit Court of Appeals, possibly within days. Although the Biden administration is likely to appeal the order, the Supreme Court has indicated it would agree with a 5th Circuit ruling that ends the Obama-era program. The order would direct Immigration and Customs Enforcement to deprioritize deporting DACA recipients and refrain from deporting them if they aren’t deemed threats to public safety or national security. And if something terrible comes out of the 5th Circuit, I think it could be an issue in November,” said Durbin, referring to the November midterm elections.
