CNN —A rare letter signed by three of the founding fathers of the United States is going on sale, and is expected to fetch up to $1 million when it goes under the hammer next week. “An important expression of the emerging American policy of free trade, likely the only available example of any letter signed by all three of these Founding Fathers, the men most responsible for the Declaration of Independence,” said Bonhams in a listing on its website. Bidding starts at $550,000, and the letter is expected to fetch up to $1 million when it goes under the hammer on November 12. Objects and artifacts linked to the founding fathers often prove popular at auction, attracting astronomical bids. In 2017, manuscripts, personal letters and hundreds of other documents from founding father Alexander Hamilton’s desk sold for a total of $2.6 million at Sotheby’s in New York, according to the auction house.

Grace, a 29-year-old publicist in New York, has regularly used a slew of dating apps for more than four years, with little luck. Among millions, a consensus is forming: Dating apps suck so bad that they might even be deliberately keeping us from finding love. In Tokyo, the city government is even releasing its own dating app, part of a campaign called Tokyo Futari Story ("futari" means couple). Bouke de Vries, an associate professor of philosophy at Ghent University in Belgium who's studied dating apps, argues that state-run dating apps are at least in theory better positioned to help people find partners without spending too much money or time in the process. CNN —New York City is suing a handful of social media networks, alleging their platforms’ designs exploit young users’ mental health and cost the city $100 million in related health programs and services each year. A growing number of families have sued social media companies, along with US states and municipalities, over the alleged impact on the mental health of their children. The city also released a social media action plan that highlights how it plans to hold social media companies accountable, provide education and support to young people and families, and study the long-term impacts of social media on youth. Last month, Mayor Adams called social media a “public health hazard” and an “environmental toxin” during his State of the City address.
