"I do think that you have to be very selective in small caps because things can go down with great velocity," he told CNBC's " Fast Money " on Thursday. "Within the Russell 2000, you have a lot of stuff that you probably don't want to own," he said. Even with the losing week, the Russell 2000 is up almost 2% for the year, as of Friday's market close. We will only consider more general questions about the investment process or stocks in the portfolio or related industries. However, it's important to also consider a company's underlying fundamentals and not just the stock price. After all, price is what you pay and value is what you get, so it's important to consider whether the stock price reflects the business fundamentals. Historically, monetary tightening in the United States has been kryptonite for emerging-market investors. Most important of all, many emerging-market central banks learned the lesson of previous cycles and raised rates early. By the end of 2021, two-thirds of the major emerging-market central banks were tightening monetary policy. Perhaps the 2020s will bring a Highly Indebted Rich Countries initiative in which emerging-market countries return the favour. But when it comes to considering the investment case for the majority of emerging-market sovereigns, investors should not be swayed.
Growth stocks have been enjoying a rebound after a miserable 2022. And the tech sector in particular — a favorite among investors seeking exposure to growth stocks — has been a bright spot amid the banking turmoil. He said one of the biggest risks of growth investing is paying too much today for future growth. Future growth is very difficult to predict, he said, adding that historical growth isn't particularly indicative of future growth.

BENGALURU, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Loan growth at Indian banks will accelerate to 13% in this fiscal year despite the RBI raising interest rates, as economic activity picks up after a pandemic led lull, Fitch Ratings said on Monday. read moreStrong loan growth will, however, put pressure on core equity tier 1 ratios if credit growth exceed expectations, limiting buffers to absorb potential future losses, the ratings agency said. Deposit growth is seen at 11% this year and the next, slower than loan growth. Increased deposit rates may put some pressure on margins, but lower credit costs should offset pressure on profitability, Fitch said, adding that near-term asset quality risks appeared contained. "Deposits' large role in banks' funding mix are likely to remain a credit strength for Indian banks, despite some normalisation in household savings after being boosted during the pandemic," the note said.

Investors souring on ESG funds could pose a challenge to governments seeking to enlist them in the fight against climate change. In 2021, 40% of actively managed ESG funds beat their benchmarks, almost as well as conventional funds. In 2020, the actively managed ESG funds did even better; 57% of them beat their benchmarks, while only 43% of conventional funds did so. One active ESG fund that has suffered in the downturn is Parnassus Core Equity fund (PRBLX.O). It's possible that market trends will come to favour the portfolios of ESG funds in the coming months.
