“The 2024 Cody Stampede Parade promises to be an unforgettable celebration of American independence, led by one of comedy’s most beloved figures,” the Cody Enterprise reported. In an editorial published Monday, Enterprise Editor Chris Bacon said he “failed to catch” the AI copy and false quotes. “It matters not that the false quotes were the apparent error of a hurried rookie reporter that trusted AI. It was my job,” Bacon wrote. Another story — about a poaching sentencing — included quotes from a wildlife official and a prosecutor that sounded like they came from a news release, Baker said.

Simpson not guilty of murder, the comedian Norm Macdonald opened Weekend Update on “Saturday Night Live” at his desk next to a photo of the defendant. “Murder is legal in the state of California.”The 1995 trial of Simpson, who died Wednesday at 76, didn’t just dominate and revolutionize the media. The details of the killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman were daily fodder for punchlines on talk shows, sitcoms and stand-up stages. In his 1996 breakthrough special, “Bring the Pain,” Chris Rock’s button-pushing analysis of the dynamics of the O.J. joke was so pervasive in the 1990s that not telling one could make you stand out.

That’s so important in any medium, and the point of what we do, so we can see ourselves. I moved out when I was 16 — I’ve had no parent longer than I’ve had a parent. I sometimes don’t remember my mother’s face, but I remember how she made me feel. : I think that’s the same for me … being more guarded because my mother is a minister. : I get this call from my manager, “Will you audition for ‘S.N.L.’ tomorrow?” I’m like, “Do they really want me?

Taika Waititi as Blackbeard, a real-deal pirate with a sensitive side. Photo: Nicola Dove/HBOIt’s a fact of the TV-everywhere era: At any given moment, people are gushing over a show you’ve never seen or even heard of. In the case of “Our Flag Means Death,” a comedy about a soft English gentleman who reinvents himself as a pirate captain, it seemed like nobody would be talking at all.

‘Polite Society’ Review: Pride and Plenty of Fists

“Polite Society,” a rollicking genre mash-up, is set in an enclave of well-to-do Muslim Londoners who play along with the comedy’s title until they get cranky. Then come the punches and neck chops, the bruises and broken glass, the ludicrous wire-fu that allows a matron in a brocade lehenga to fly through the air. Stubborn and snotty, Ria is so hellbent on breaking up the betrothal that she’s willing to spy and lie, claw and kick. She gets as good as she gives, ending more than one scene in a bloody, heaving heap. At the same time, the audience can appreciate what Ria is too childish to see: Lena’s joy that the neighborhood screw-up has landed its most eligible bachelor.
Though she has never quite achieved superstar status, Wanda Sykes has, over the last 25 years, steadfastly built one of comedy’s most impressive careers. But I’m not going to argue and go, “I don’t know why I can’t use that word!” No. She was like: “I don’t know. I can’t just be silent.” That’s why I said I wouldn’t be going back.13Do you think Roseanne is a racist? But I don’t know.
