New York CNN —The arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in France over the weekend has thrust the popular messaging service and its enigmatic founderinto the spotlight. Durov’s arrest comes as the app has faced growing scrutiny for its use by terrorist groups and far-right extremists. Telegram is an encrypted messaging service that was launched in 2013 by Durov and his brother, Nikolai. And earlier this month, the messaging app began actively removing calls to violence from the platform following reports that the app was being used to organize far-right, anti-immigrant riots in the United Kingdom. In addition to running Telegram, Durov has become something of an online influencer, sharing images on Instagram of his world travels (and, often, shirtless photos).

Trump's departure from the White House hasn't stopped him from using the old administration's star power to fuel Capitol Ministries' growth. But regardless of what happens this coming November, Capitol Ministries is quickly becoming the face of American GOP-style evangelicalism around the world. Other than Ralph's wife, Danielle, and a few members of Capitol Ministries' administrative staff, the room was almost entirely men. Rick Perry spoke to Drollinger at Capitol Ministries' global summit in Washington, DC. And yet, on the question of whether and why to support Israel, Drollinger was indeed looking to Revelation for answers.

Judges can threaten gag order violators with fines or jail time, but jailing a presidential candidate could prompt serious political blowback and pose logistical hurdles. A gag order may also slow down the case because it's likely Trump either violates it and the judge will want to punish him or Trump will challenge the order in advance, he said. In one case, a federal appeals court in 1987 lifted a gag order on U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Sr., a Tennessee Democrat charged in a fraud case. Ford’s gag order prohibited him from even sharing his opinion of or discussing facts of the case. He said he was dubious that Trump’s attacks, “while in very poor taste,” posed the kind of danger to merit a gag order.

A pirated version of the "Barbie" movie made its way to Russia, and officials there aren't happy. The Russian Culture Ministry wants to shift from Western values towards "traditional" Russian ones. AdvertisementAdvertisementAs Russian citizens struggle to maintain morale during the ongoing invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Culture Ministry is taking a shot at the "Barbie" movie as a representation of hated Western ideologies. Multiple offices and politicians are criticizing the "Barbie" movie for not promoting "traditional Russian values" — a vague phrase that seems to refer to patriotism and general conservatism — per the BBC. But what comprises appropriate, patriotic entertainment, then, free of Western values?

Discovery, was among the Western studios to pull out of Russia after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine last year. A “Barbie House” photo zone was set to open in Moscow last week and Russian clothing brands have launched pink Barbie-themed collections. “Hi Barbie!” one Moscow-based influencer said to her fans, asking them which of her Barbie looks they like the most. Commentaries in state media have linked the movie and the doll to the United States’ “downhill” culture and geopolitical aims. Now they have somewhat different ideals,” said Moscow State Pedagogical University Associate Professor Tatyana Semenova according to Russia’s privately owned National News Service outlet.

CNN —A former staffer who accused Joe Biden of sexual assault has defected to Moscow and spoken to Russian state media in a news conference that lasted several hours. Tara Reade drew headlines during the 2020 presidential race, when she accused then-candidate Biden of sexually harassing and assaulting her when she worked in his Senate office in 1993. Biden has strongly denied Reade’s allegations, and no ex-Biden staffer has come forward to say they ever witnessed or heard about any kind of sexual misconduct in his Senate office. In an interview with MSNBC in 2020, Biden said he is “saying unequivocally, it never, never happened. After being out of the headlines for years, Reade turned up in Moscow on Tuesday, where she sat alongside convicted Kremlin spy Maria Butina and answered questions from Russian state media.

Tara Reade, the former Senate staffer who accused Joe Biden of sexual assault, is now in Russia. Reade made the announcement at a Tuesday press conference in Moscow with Sputnik, a state-owned news outlet. "It is remarkable that Joe Biden raped me when I worked for him at the US Congress, and I'm supposed to be the fugitive," Reade said. Reade claimed media investigations into her credibility were part of a smear campaignReade filed a formal criminal complaint against Biden in 2020, but her credibility soon came under intense scrutiny. He said he believed Reade was "subjected to a double standard" in the media and that her past life faced undue attention unrelated to her sexual assault claims.

The White House took a swipe at Tara Reade after the former Biden Senate aide moved to Russia. Reade previously accused Biden of assaulting her in the 1990s, a charge he has repeatedly denied. Reade told a Russian-state news outlet that she feels safer there now. "I won't attempt to speak for an aspiring Russian citizen, the convicted Russian spy who's sponsoring her, or the foreign government with which she has chosen to align," White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said in a statement first reported by CNN's Edward-Isaac Dovere. Reade said in an interview with Sputnik, a Russian state-owned news organization, that she would like to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin for Russian citizenship.

He has since given high-profile interviews to state media and on Monday appeared on stage at a political event as he joined an ultranationalist party. Viktor Bout on a plane in Abu Dhabi before departing for Russia on Thursday. Russian media also showed him walking off a plane in Moscow, where relatives waiting with flowers embraced him. AFP - Getty ImagesSince his return home, Bout has given a pair of interviews to Maria Butina on the state-run TV channel RT. Like Butina, who was elected to the State Duma last year, Bout spared no time kicking off a potential political career.
Dec 10 (Reuters) - Viktor Bout, the arms dealer freed in a prisoner swap for U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner, said he wished her good luck on the tarmac in Abu Dhabi where they were exchanged. "I wished her luck, she even sort of reached out her hand to me," Bout said on Saturday in an interview with Russian state-controlled broadcaster RT. You should wish everyone good fortune and happiness," he said, adding that he believed Griner "was positively inclined" towards him. Asked about Russia's military campaign in Ukraine, Bout said he wished that Moscow had been able to launch it sooner. "If I had the chance and the required skills, I'd join up as a volunteer," he said.
He was interviewed by Maria Butina, a Russian gun-rights enthusiast-turned TV personality who now works for the network. Viktor Bout arrives at Westchester County Airport November 16, 2010 in White Plains, New York. When asked if he had a portrait of President Vladimir Putin in his prison cell, Bout said: “Yes, always. Griner, 32, returned to the United States early Friday after being released from custody in an exchange for an international arms dealer. The families of Griner and Whelan had urged the White House to secure their release, including via prisoner exchange if necessary.
[1/3] Suspected Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout is escorted by members of a special police unit after a hearing at a criminal court in Bangkok October 5, 2010. "Everyone will forget about Griner tomorrow," Russian state television host Yevgeny Popov wrote on Telegram on Thursday. "Bout's life is only beginning." Bout arrived in Moscow late on Thursday after Russia and the United States swapped the arms dealer for Griner at Abu Dhabi airport. U.S. anger at Bout's release has been widely covered in the Russian media, with the pro-Kremlin tabloid Moskovsky Komsomolets claiming that Department of Defense officials were "disturbed" by the exchange, citing U.S. media reports.
