Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe didn’t throw an incompletion until there were just under four minutes left in the second quarter. To this point it’s been Georgia, Texas, Ohio State and everyone else. Backs against the wall, Alabama turned to Milroe and Ryan Williams, whose immediate answer will go down as a legendary moment. It ended with a Beck interception, and turnovers were part of the reason Georgia had to put together an epic comeback. That list consists of Alabama, Texas and Tennessee.

And the Wolverines did just enough of both to knock off USC 27-24 in the Trojans’ first-ever Big Ten game. “Whatever it takes to win.”Here are some takeaways from Michigan’s win. Michigan should feel goodIt wasn’t pretty, but Michigan did just enough to win a game few people thought it would win. This is the kind of result that can make a big difference in who plays for the Big Ten championship. Somehow, thanks to Mullings, Michigan found a way.

Manning started on Saturday night in place of injured starter Quinn Ewers, who is recovering from a strained oblique suffered last week in a win against UTSA. The state Supreme Court's brief order Tuesday shutting down the suit said legislators have fulfilled promises of annual increases in aid to the state's 286 local school districts as outlined in a 2019 law. But closing the case gives the Legislature more leeway on school funding issues in the short term. Educators who feel legislators aren't providing enough money or distributing it fairly enough were able to take their complaints directly to the state Supreme Court while the case was open. Four school districts sued the state in 2010, and the Supreme Court issued seven rulings from 2010 to 2019. The first six told lawmakers that they needed to increase spending or distribute the money more fairly or both.

SpaceX rockets are ripping brightly colored holes in the Earth's ionosphere. AdvertisementSpaceX rocket launches are punching holes in part of Earth's atmosphere, called the ionosphere, and it's a beautiful sight to behold. The holes appear as bright red blobs in the sky. Recently, these spherical red blobs have been popping up over MacDonald Observatory in Texas, which has astronomers slightly worried for the future. AdvertisementHow ionospheric holes could disrupt astronomical observationsThese bright red blobs don't last long.

SpaceX failed to apply for an environmental permit for its "flame deflector" system, CNBC reported. SpaceX failed to apply for the permits needed to use its "flame deflector" system used in rocket launches, potentially breaking environmental law, CNBC reported. However, according to a CNBC report, SpaceX failed to apply for the environmental permits needed to use the technology. A representative for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality told CNBC that as of Thursday SpaceX hadn't obtained the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit needed to permit such runoff at the launch site. Last week, physicist Jeff Baumgardner told Spaceweather that a SpaceX launch earlier in July briefly punched a hole in the Earth's ionosphere.

A physicist says a SpaceX rocket may have punched a temporary hole in the ionosphere. A space physicist has said it's "quite possible" that a SpaceX rocket launched earlier this month made a hole in the Earth's ionosphere. The ionosphere is where Earth's atmosphere meets space and stretches roughly 50 to 400 miles above Earth's surface, Nasa said. A picture of the incident was captured by photographer Jeremy Perez on July 19 after SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from a base in California. In 2018, the outlet reported that another Falcon 9 launch caused a 560-mile-wide hole in the Earth's ionosphere that lasted for two to three hours.

A commercial pilot told Insider that flight collisions and near-misses on the runway are rare. In recent months, at least five near-misses or plane collisions have occurred on airport runways. He said investigators need to figure out whether this is a coincidence or a larger issue. In 2023 alone, there have been at least five collisions or near-misses on airport runways, including incidents at JFK International Airport, Boston Logan International Airport, and Newark Liberty International Airport. "It's honestly amazing to think how smoothly and little mistakes are made 99.99% of the time," Baumgardner said.
