CNN —17-year-old Real Madrid-bound sensation Endrick has earned a milestone call up to the senior Brazil men’s national team. Interim Canarinha head coach Fernando Diniz announced his squad on Monday for Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifier later this month and revealed that the uncapped Endrick will feature in the national team for the first time. In doing so, the Palmeiras breakout star became the youngest player to get a senior Seleção call-up since iconic striker Ronaldo Nazario in 1994. Ronaldo – nicknamed O Fenômeno – is considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time and won the World Cup twice with Brazil. The top six teams automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup which is being hosted in the US, Canada and Mexico, while the seventh-placed nation must go through a play-off to reach international soccer’s showpiece competition.

Aug 27 (Reuters) - It took 86 years, but Atletico Mineiro have finally been crowned as Brazil's first club champion after the country's football confederation (CBF) officially recognised their winning of the 1937 "Tournament of Champions" as comparable to a Brazilian Serie A Championship. Atletico can now add a third title to their history along with the 1971 and 2021 victories thanks to the decision of the body headed by Ednaldo Rodrigues to grant the club recognition of the long-standing title. The pioneering interstate tournament brought together five state champions of 1936 from different regions of Brazil and a delegation of the sports club of the navy. It was the first of national relevance to involve clubs that moved to the professional model, such as Fluminense and Atletico itself. After claiming the "Brasileirao" in 2021, Atletico requested recognition of the title they won almost a century ago.

Dar, pentru că fotbalistul locuiește în Brazilia și țara sa nu își extrădează cetățenii, va fi probabil emis un mandat de arestare internațional. Fostul mare fotbalist brazilian Ronaldinho, cîştigătorul ”Balonului de Aur” în 2005, a anunţat, duminică, într-o înregistrare difuzată pe Instagram, că a fost testat pozitiv la COVID-19, asigurînd că este ”asimptomatic”. ”Salut prietenii, familia, fanii, am făcut testul COVID, rezultatul este pozitiv, dar sînt bine, asimptomatic pentru moment”, a afirmat fostul jucător al echipelor FC Barcelona şi Paris Saint-Germain, transmite Agerpres.ro. Ronaldinho, 40 de ani, va rămîne în carantină într-un hotel din Belo Horizonte, unde trebuia să participe la un eveniment organizat de un sponsor al stadionului Mineirao, în care a cîştigat Copa Libertadores în 2013, cu echipa locală Atletico Mineiro. Campionul mondial în 2002 cu Selecao a fost deţinut şi apoi plasat în arest la domiciliu, din martie pînă în august, într-un hotel din Paraguay, împreună cu fratele său Roberto Assis, pentru uz de paşapoarte false. Brazilia este a doua ţară ca număr de decese pe plan mondial din cauza COVID-19, după Statele Unite, cu peste 156.000 de morţi din această cauză.
