Diamond Sports moved closer to exiting bankruptcy on Thursday after a bankruptcy judge approved its reorganization plan, which slashes the hefty debt load that toppled the company. The green light is a significant milestone for the owner of regional sports networks, which has been under bankruptcy protection since March 2023. It presented its reorganization plan to the court with a standing objection from the U.S. The reorganization plan that received court approval on Thursday will see Diamond's debt load cut from nearly $9 billion to $200 million. That is the most-watched game in the Fall Classic since Game 7 in 2019 when the Washington Nationals’ victory over the Houston Astros averaged 23.22 million. The series averaged 15.81 million, its best performance since 2017 when Houston’s victory over the Dodgers in seven games averaged 18.93 million. The game had a 21.1 rating and 55 share in Los Angeles and 14.8 rating and 39 share in New York. The share refers to a percentage of the audience viewing it at the time.

You might remember the others: 1999, when only the Yankees won, and 2000, when New York City had the World Series all to itself. We’re still hungry — at least in New York, where the World Series seemed like a birthright in the years before expansion. CNN —A piece of woolly mammoth skin excavated from the Siberian permafrost has been found to contain fossil chromosomes in a first-of-its-kind discovery, according to a new study. The new study revealed that fossils of ancient chromosomes survive in this skin sample. But the DNA from elephants was also needed to assemble the mammoth genome. The researchers hope to use the findings to assemble the woolly mammoth genome completely. “This structural information provides insights into functions of the woolly mammoth genome that were invisible using previous genomic methods,” Heintzman said in an email.
