AdvertisementIf Elon Musk can fully deliver on his plans to make Tesla's Robotaxi the new go-to mode of transport, he could bring an end to the ride-hailing economy as we know it. "Tesla's vehicles, sensors, and software will all need to be approved in any market they hope to enter. "Until Tesla robotaxis are transporting 100,000 paying customers a week around major American cities like Waymo does, Tesla Robotaxi is nothing more than the latest work of fiction to come out of the Warner Bros. "Based on the preliminary results from last week's shareholder meetings, it is clear that shareholders have rejected both Saba's nominees and its efforts to displace BlackRock as investment advisor to the Funds," BlackRock said in a statement. Saba, run by prominent investor Boaz Weinstein, and BlackRock, the world's biggest asset management company with more than $10 trillion in assets under management, have been locked in battle for months over the future of 10 BlackRock closed end funds. Saba wants investors to elect its nominees to the BlackRock funds' boards and fire BlackRock as manager at some of them. Some $1.4 billion in value could be unlocked at the funds by cutting the funds' discount to their net asset value, he has said. The 10 BlackRock funds jointly oversee roughly $10 billion in assets.

About half, or 48%, of Gen Xers say they won't have enough money to enjoy their retirement, a 2024 report from global asset management company Natixis Investment Managers found. Gen X is typically defined as those born between 1965 and 1980. "I think where it's very stressful for [Gen X] is being sandwiched in that tug of war, saving for their retirement as well as helping aging parents," said Marguerita Cheng, a certified financial planner and Gen X mother. Gen X is the first generation of U.S. workers to come of age with 401(k) plans as their primary retirement vehicle after employers largely shifted away from traditional pensions in the 1980s. The American investment firm 777 Partners, whose bid to buy the English Premier League soccer team Everton has been on hold for months amid doubts about the company’s finances, was accused by one of its lenders on Friday of running a yearslong fraud scheme worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The accusation came in a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court in New York by Leadenhall Capital Partners, a London-based asset management company. It said that it had provided 777 Partners with more than $600 million in financing, only to discover that roughly $350 million in assets serving as collateral for the loans either were not in 777’s control or had already been pledged to other lenders. The lawsuit is the latest, most serious claim against 777 Partners, which has for years made bold assertions about its financial health — it has previously claimed $10 billion in assets — even as it was trailed a string of lawsuits, corporate failures and unpaid bills. The suit could have immediate implications for 777’s stalled bid to buy Everton: The Premier League has not approved the sale, and the financially strapped club recently said it was seeking alternate investors.

A trust company usually manages funds for individuals, companies or other entities. The reports come two weeks after Zhongzhi Enterprise Group, another major shadow bank, declared itself “insolvent” after missing payments to its investors. Moody’s Investors Services also warned in September that China’s trust sector could face liquidity challenges during the current property downturn. The two medical trust products were related to a hospital project in Guizhou, which is one of China’s most indebted provinces, according to Cailianshe. HONG KONG, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Hong Kong's efforts to revive its shrinking stock market are mere stopgap solutions, as analysts say a reversal in fortunes for Asia's premier financial hub would not be possible without a major improvement in China's economic prospects. With a market value of around $4.3 trillion, Hong Kong is home to one of the top-ranked stock markets globally just behind those in the United States, Japan, China and Europe. New share offerings in Hong Kong have fizzled. Local media reported that a record 47 of the 638 trading participants on the Hong Kong exchange shut shop last year. Chinese firms listed in Hong Kong, such as tech giants Tencent (0700.HK) and Alibaba (9988.HK), comprise the bulk of the turnover on the Hong Kong exchange, leaving Hong Kong hostage to China's fortunes.
