The box office this weekend will be painted pink and green, with a splash of red. Universal’s “Wicked” and Paramount’s “Gladiator II” arrive ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and are expected to tally more than $200 million in combined ticket sales this weekend. Whatever it hauls in for the weekend, “Wicked” should debut as the highest-opening Broadway adaptation in cinematic history. Meanwhile, “Gladiator II” tallied $6.5 million from Thursday previews and is expected to add between $60 million and $80 million to the domestic weekend tally. Cinemark has a “Gladiator II” popcorn bucket shaped like the Colosseum and a gladiator helmet that fits over its drink cups to hold popcorn.

Comcast announced a plan Wednesday to spin off most of its cable television networks into a separate publicly traded company. The new company will include the USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and the Golf Channel. Comcast will retain key NBCUniversal assets, including the NBC broadcast network, NBC News, NBC Sports, the streaming service Peacock, and the cable channel Bravo. The move comes as the traditional cable television bundle faces stiff economic headwinds, most notably the rise of cord-cutting and the shift to streaming alternatives. The holiday shopping season is upon us, and our retail stocks are well-positioned to thrive, according to Wall Street research firm Telsey Advisory Group. Telsey Advisory expects value-seeking to be a key theme among shoppers this year, which puts companies with reputations for good deals on solid ground. Overall, the firm expects holiday retail sales up between 3% to 3.5% this year, compared with 4.6% growth last year and a 5.4% increase in 2022. Costco has had a good year so far, and that should continue in the final months of 2024, Telsey Advisory argued. A third-party legal probe into Jimmy Donaldson’s MrBeast LLC found that allegations of sexual misconduct directed at the top YouTube creator’s company were baseless. In a social media post Friday, Donaldson wrote on X that an investigation into allegations regarding his company had concluded. But the law firm wrote in its assessment that “allegations of sexual misconduct (e.g., pedophilia, grooming, child pornography, etc.) In a post on X, LavaGS said private investigators reviewed all the DMs and interactions between them and Tyson. "It was incredibly difficult having my name thrown around in a public forum without being given the opportunity to share the truth," LavaGS wrote Friday.
