Then in 1992, the Knesset passed a Basic Law that guaranteed dignity and liberty.
Supreme Court Justice Aharon Barak, one of the country’s most influential jurists, proclaimed a “constitutional revolution,” and the court established the supremacy of the Basic Laws and gave judges more sway to interpret them.
