Tim Scott of South Carolina is suspending his presidential campaign, he announced in an interview with Fox News on Sunday. “Tim ran an optimistic, hopeful message — but that’s not where the Republican base is right now,” a Republican official who supported Scott told CNN. Scott said he has no intention of accepting a vice presidential nomination, reaffirming a position he repeated frequently on the campaign trail. The South Carolina senator entered the race with a major cash advantage after he converted his Senate campaign account into a presidential fund. He held the seat for more than a decade before his election to the South Carolina House in 2008.

HILLSBORO, New Hampshire — Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is temporarily relocating his entire staff of over 40 people, including himself, from his headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, to the early-primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire in an effort to boost his campaign in the 2024 race. Ramaswamy, 38, has rented an apartment in Iowa, and the campaign is currently searching for rental housing in New Hampshire for the candidate and his staff. CNN —Whether it was due to a less crowded debate stage or the experienced bench of moderators, the third Republican presidential debate held in Miami on Wednesday night was easily the smoothest debate yet. Usually, his moments of brilliance are –— as Senator Tim Scott would probably understand — sandwich-boarded by acts of self-flagellation. He was flat-out great in justifying our support of Ukraine, a debate Christie can win against anyone. As the resident expert of ‘letting little things get to me,’ I understand Haley’s Mr. Hyde. They sparred in a substantive debate that dissected disagreements over aid to Ukraine, Social Security, confronting China, banning TikTok and how to approach abortion less than 24 hours after Republicans suffered their latest electoral setbacks driven by the fall of Roe v. Wade.
