Since Friday, the front developed from a potential tropical cyclone to a tropical depression, and it continues to draw strength from warm, tropical water. Tropical Storm Debby was expected to continue moving north at 15mph and hug Florida's west coast. The outer portions of a tropical system, which later became Tropical Storm Debby, saturates Fort Myers Beach, Fla., on Saturday. The named tropical storm designation means the front has sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph. Debby comes with a hurricane warning and tropical storm warning for the state's west coast from the Suwannee River to the Ochlockonee River, the hurricane center said.

Until then, the front is being called Tropical Depression Four, with the name Debby available should it graduate to tropical storm. Maximum sustained winds of 30 mph kept it below the 39 mph threshold for tropical storm status late Friday, but the National Hurricane Center said it would continue to strengthen. The front graduated from Potential Tropical Depression Four to Tropical Depression Four on Friday night as it gained strength over warm Caribbean waters. It was "expected to become a tropical storm over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by late Saturday," the hurricane center said in an update late Friday. A tropical storm watch is also in effect for some areas, including the Florida Keys south of the Card Sound Bridge.

CNN —A tropical depression making its way towards the Florida coast is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Debby Saturday before delivering heavy, flooding rainfall and dangerous storm surge to the state starting this weekend. The storm is expected to enter the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and become Tropical Storm Debby, according to the hurricane center. Tropical storm conditions could begin Saturday night in parts of southwest Florida. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the Dry Tortugas and the west coast of the Florida peninsula from East Cape Sable to Boca Grande. Slowdown fearsGlobal markets are a blur of red on Friday as investors fret that the U.S. economy is heading for a slowdown. Lackluster tech earnings are weighing on sentiment (more on that below), but the bigger worry is a softening jobs market and a spending pullback by consumers that threatens to crimp corporate profit. There’s even talk that the central bank could consider a jumbo half-percentage-point rate cut to pull off its hope for a soft landing in which inflation is cooled without tipping the economy into recession.

ET, the 10-year Treasury yield was down by over 4 basis points at 3.933%, remaining below the 4%. The yield on the 2-year Treasury was last around 5 basis points lower at 4.116%. U.S. Treasury yields were lower on Friday as investors looked ahead to the July jobs report and digested the interest rate outlook. The U.S. Labor Department's jobs report for July is slated for Friday, and will provide investors with insights into the state of the U.S. economy. The Federal Reserve earlier in the week kept rates unchanged at their latest meeting but hinted that a September rate cut was on the table, sending Treasury yields lower.
