REUTERS/Kamil Krzaczynski Acquire Licensing RightsCompanies Walmart Inc FollowSept 7 (Reuters) - Walmart (WMT.N) is changing the hourly starting wage structure for entry-level store workers, as companies seek to reduce costs in a slowing job market. Deli, auto center and bakery workers will continue to receive higher starting wages as they are higher-skilled roles, she added. The Wall Street Journal, which was the first to report the wage structure changes that went into effect in mid-July, said the changes mean paying some new store workers less than it would have three months ago, citing documents seen by the Journal and store workers. Walmart pays its employees different starting wages based on where the store is based. The new wage structure will not change Walmart's minimum hourly wage of $14 or result in any pay cuts for existing employees, the spokesperson said.

"Feeling like I left it all out here tonight," said the 47th ranked Shelton, who is still searching for his first ATP Tour win. "He (Djokovic) has won 23 of these (Grand Slams), it doesn't get much better than that," said Shelton. Shelton came out guns blazing, with his groundstrokes struck with such venom they drew gasps from the capacity crowd. After holding his first two serves Tiafoe had no answers for his opponent's explosive forehand as Shelton claimed five straight games to snatch opening set. Another break at 5-2 and Tiafoe's fate was sealed with Shelton holding serve for the win.

For Rublev it was a familiar end to a Grand Slam, made all the more painful coming at the hands of his good friend Medvedev for the third time and second at the U.S. Open. Nine times Rublev has contested a Grand Slam quarter-final, losing each one with Medvedev also knocking him out at the same stage of the 2020 U.S. Open and 2021 Australian Open. "Just tried to go for it, tried to run, tried to catch the balls and he did the same." It was an ominous start to the match for Rublev with Medvedev 25-0 at Flushing Meadows after winning the first set. With the brutal conditions preventing both players from finding any rhythm, the breaks came fast and furious the next two sets.

The 20-year-old will need all of his weapons on Friday if he is to stand a chance in his first meeting with Djokovic. "I think that it's an advantage with my game style, playing someone who's never played me before," Shelton told reporters. "I think that I can bring some things to the table that maybe you don't see in your normal match that you play on the ATP Tour. NEW YORK (AP) — Alexander Zverev felt he had to react when he heard a fan use language from Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime during his U.S. Open match. That made the ejection of the Zverev fan — who was not arrested — an easy decision. Less clear is a situation like the Djokovic fan, whose behavior is normal at a basketball or football game, where spectators don't hold their applause until play has stopped. “Again, if the rule one day is going to change, I’m not going to argue against this anymore, because that’s the rule,” Medvedev said. It’s the rule.”Tiafoe advocates tennis encouraging fans to cheer and move around freely, like team sports.

Tiafoe, 25, and Shelton, 20, will face each other at a stadium christened after the Black tennis legend who broke barriers in the game. With temperatures once again nudging towards 100 Fahrenheit (38 Celsius), Djokovic turned in a cool, clinical effort, improving his record against American opposition at the U.S. Open to a perfect 12-0. "It's expected of course that people are backing the home player and there is nothing wrong with that," said Djokovic. On a baking hot day, 19-year-old Coco Gauff had warmed up the Arthur Ashe crowd, blasting past Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko 6-0 6-2 to become the youngest American to reach the U.S. Open semi-finals since Serena Williams in 2001. "As the song went that they played here five minutes ago, you've got to fight for your right to party." CNN —Novak Djokovic booked his spot in the US Open semifinals with an emphatic victory over American Taylor Fritz on Tuesday. Victory ensured that Djokovic’s hopes of winning a 24th grand slam title remain alive, as he seeks to equal Margaret Court’s outright record and extend his own men’s record. I thrive on that energy, whatever the energy is, use it as a fuel to try and play my best tennis,” Djokovic added. Fritz, who is enjoying his best run at his home grand slam, continued to grow into the game and gave Djokovic a stern test in the third set. The American earned multiple break points against the 36-year-old, but Djokovic continued to produce in the most important moments to stay ahead.

He will usually return to his bench, hydrate and towel off his face and body before slipping into a fresh shirt. Sometimes he’ll grab a fresh shirt out of his bag at the end of a set. It is not uncommon for a player who has been sweating in a competition to change into a clean shirt a few times each match. “You want to be as light as you can on the court,” Tiafoe said after his second-round victory, adding that if he feels even a small amount of moisture on his shirt, he’ll change it. For Tiafoe, it is a near obsession with changing shirts — perhaps more than any other player on the men’s tour.

Ola Kaellenius's comments come as Mercedes-Benz disclosed more details about its newest electric vehicle architecture, the CLA compact electric sedan, which will launch next year and target 30% to 35% more driving range. "The variable costs for an electric car are higher. It will remain that way for the foreseeable future," Kaellenius told journalists at the IAA car show in Munich, adding higher costs could not be passed on to customers on a like for like basis. Variable costs weighing on the price tag of EV production include raw materials for batteries, software development, and electricity prices. Batteries for the CLA will be produced by key supplier CATL (300750.SZ) and ACC, in which Mercedes owns a third.

FILE PHOTO-The Bank of Israel building is seen in Jerusalem June 16, 2020. Israel's annual inflation rate dropped to 3.3% in July from 4.2% in June, its lowest rate since March 2022 but above a government target range of 1-3%. "The central bank will leave the door open for further rate hikes and maintain its relatively hawkish stance, given that the shekel remains weak and exposed to domestic political developments," said Goldman Sachs economist Tadas Gedminas. The Bank of Israel left its key rate unchanged in July after an aggressive rate hike cycle that took the rate from 0.1%. Minutes of the meeting showed policymakers were concerned the shekel could keep inflation from moving back to its target and that further rate increases were possible.
