CNN —A Hilton hotel in Houston, Texas has canceled a conference scheduled for next week hosted by the US Campaign for Palestinian Rights amid mounting violence between Israel and Hamas. The hotel cited “escalating security concerns” as the reason for the cancellation. “Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria serves as a place of public accommodation and does not endorse the positions of third-party groups or organizations. The safety and security of our Team Members and guests is our top priority,” a Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria spokesperson said in a statement to CNN. Further, canceling the conference because of our organization’s political positions goes against our First Amendment rights,” said USCPR executive director Ahmad Abuznaid.

And she also pushed back against any idea that the justices differed on the necessity of creating an ethics code. But when the host, former Minnesota Law Dean and professor Robert Stein, asked Barrett about a timeline for when the high court might institute an ethics code, she said she wasn't able to offer any specifics. CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia has benefited from waiting to reveal where he stands as the swing vote in a chamber closely divided between Democrats and Republicans. During a multi-day trip to West Virginia's capital this week, the 76-year-old expressed growing frustration with the polarized U.S. two-party system. He managed to win reelection in 2018 in one of former President Donald Trump's most loyal states as the last of his party to hold statewide office in now-deep red West Virginia. Still, Justice has a high approval rating in West Virginia, making him a formidable opponent for any candidate. Robert Rupp, a retired political history professor at West Virginia Wesleyan, called Manchin one of the most successful campaigners in recent state history because of his personal relationships with constituents.
