Week 3 of the NFL season was filled with impressive wins — some big-time comebacks, teams getting their first victory of the season and more. Here are the teams who came away with the biggest wins of the week. It was a baffling home performance for the Raiders one week after they upset the Ravens. Dalton’s performance not only saves the season for Carolina; it raises even more questions about how poor Young’s performance was in the first two weeks. Niners signal-caller Brock Purdy had an impressive stat line — 22 of 30 for 292 yards and three scores — but couldn’t put away the game late.

CNN —It was perhaps fitting that Shohei Ohtani should achieve one of baseball’s most remarkable feats with an out-of-this-world performance. But despite being kept away from the mound, Ohtani has had a phenomenal debut season with the Dodgers. Ohtani smacks his 50th home run of the season, and with it, earns the first 50/50 in MLB history. Megan Briggs/Getty ImagesEven without pitching this season, Ohtani is still the odds-on favorite to win the NL MVP award, potentially the first to do so having played solely as a designated hitter (DH). Robinson, the current North Carolina lieutenant governor, referred to himself as a “black NAZI,” expressed support for reinstating slavery, made repeated graphic sexual comments and more. Trump defeated Joe Biden by 1 point in North Carolina in 2020. North Carolina is an vital part of that plan. Overall, NFL teams are currently averaging 21.4 points per game, the fifth straight year the scoring average has decreased, and the lowest points per game total since 2006. Last season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL with 4,624 yards, the lowest total for a passing yards leader since 2017. There are several theories as to why the passing game has been muted and scoring numbers have decreased. But it’s not only that teams are playing more Cover 2, the problem may also be that modern NFL teams are worse at attacking what is not a novel concept. Obviously, there is far from any consensus on why exactly NFL offenses have slowed down.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein’s last-ditch request to be included on the ballot in Nevada, a key swing state. The court in a brief unsigned order left in place a decision by the Nevada Supreme Court that blocked Stein from appearing on the ballot over a dispute concerning whether the Green Party had submitted the correct paperwork. Jay Sekulow, an ally of former President Donald Trump, represented the Green Party. In Nevada, which is expected to be closely contested, the Democrats sued to ensure Stein was not on the ballot. The case arose from correspondence between the Nevada Green Party and state officials this year over language to include on its petition seeking signatures to appear on the ballot.

That’s how much money one expert said the person who caught Ohtani’s historic 50-50 club home run baseball on Thursday could sell it for. “Just an incredible piece of history,” Dillon Kohler of SCP Auctions told NBC Local. The fan who ended up with the ball has not yet been publicly identified or announced an intention to sell. Only five players in MLB history have recorded 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season, making the accomplishment unprecedented and the baseball lucrative. Kohler said auction is the recommended selling strategy for Ohtani’s home run ball, which he said should have been hologrammed by MLB for authentication purposes prior to his at-bat before it reached the hands of its new wealthy owner.

Police found the teen sitting in a car in the parking lot of Husky Academy, about a mile away from the high school with a fully loaded gun. The video the teen posted to social media panned to show an unoccupied police vehicle parked next to the teen’s car. The teen, a former student with the Ritenour School District, was charged with first-degree terrorist threat, resisting arrest, and unlawful use of weapons. The chief said the police department has already investigated seven unsubstantiated school shooting threats since the beginning of the school year.

“Kamala Harris isn’t talking about the historic nature of this,” Walz, the Democratic running mate, told supporters here at a rally. But the strategies of both sides have overlapping objectives, with Trump working to widen his advantage with White men while making gains among young Black and Latino voters. “They both have their qualities, they both have their flaws,” said Hernandez, a North Carolina voter who is torn between Trump and Harris. But the Trump campaign is also targeting many of the same voters, particularly young men whose decision whether to vote – and for whom – could be a turning point in the election. Women make up a slim majority of the electorate, but the degree to which Trump can hold onto male voters could determine the outcome of the November election.

Vice President Kamala Harris called the rate cut “welcome news,” while former President Donald Trump suggested, without evidence, that the decision could be politically motivated. With less than 50 days until Election Day, another question has emerged: Will the rate cut matter to voters? Harris responded to the rate cut by saying she’s focused on bringing down prices. This story has been updated with reaction to the Fed’s rate cut announcement.

Based on the Boston Globe and Wondery podcast “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” and adapted by Stuart Zicherman, “American Sports Story,” which premieres Tuesday on FX, chronicles Hernandez’s meteoric rise to NFL superstardom and his stunning fall from grace after his arrest and eventual conviction of first-degree murder in 2015. Aaron Hernandez was a monster, a killer — and that’s just the way people talked about him. Michael DeHoog / Getty Images fileIn the years since his death, Hernandez’s sexuality has been the subject of much speculation, with some of his loved ones claiming he had come out as gay. “A person struggling with his sexuality in the NFL when Aaron played in 2010, 2011, would not have been tolerated, not one bit,” Zicherman said.
