We are buying 100 shares of Wynn Resorts (WYNN) at roughly $96.89 apiece. Before the Covid pandemic, the company generated about 75% of its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) from its Macao properties. And since the Macao properties' cost structure was reduced to minimize losses during the lockdowns, the operating leverage as revenues recover has been both notable and underappreciated by the market. Despite recent weakness due to fresh Covid concerns, the May CGR numbers numbers for Macao indicate that there has not been any material slowdown in gaming. Wynn stock is still up nearly 17% year-to-date, and we believe China's long-term economic recovery is on track.

Investor concern has been spilling over into the Club holdings doing the most business in China: Wynn Resorts (WYNN), Estee Lauder (EL), and Starbucks (SBUX). That ultimately bodes well for Estee Lauder, Starbucks and Wynn, even if increasing consumer demand appeared somewhat uneven in the latest round of quarterly results. And we're expecting Estee Lauder's China business to recover as travel continues to accelerate. We remain optimistic about the growth trajectory in the country, and see this latest Covid wave as a temporary speedbump. May 20 (Reuters) - A transgender Mississippi girl declined to participate in high school graduation on Saturday after a U.S. District Judge said the school district could bar her unless she dressed in clothes required for boys, a lawyer for the girl said. The school district's dress code requires boys to wear a white button-down shirt, black dress plants, black shoes and a tie or bowtie. Mississippi lawmakers have introduced more than 30 bills this year seeking to limit rights of LGBTQ citizens. In 2021, Mississippi became the first U.S. state to ban transgender athletes from competing in women's and girl's sports, when Republican Governor Tate Reeves signed legislation. Efforts to reach the school district and Clark on Saturday were unsuccessful.

HONG KONG, May 16 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Investing in China need not be too stressful, provided you avoid investing in Chinese companies. A spending pop in the transport, food and beverage and hospitality sectors helped lift first-quarter GDP to 4.5%. But that data was flattered by comparison to a grim 2022, and April data on imports, inflation and bank loans all disappointed. While Beijing’s crackdowns on domestic technology companies and property developers have eased, other risks are rising. Separately, quarterly revenue at Alibaba is expected to rise 3% year-on-year to 211 billion yuan ($30.5 billion) in the three months to March, according to the average analyst forecast on Refinitiv.
Republicans, led by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, want to attach spending cuts to any agreement to raise the debt ceiling. Biden and the Democrats say they are willing to talk about spending cuts but only outside the debt ceiling discussions. Raising the debt ceiling would allow the government to pay for spending that has already occurred. That year, the debt ceiling was raised at the last minute but not before a summer of bickering sent the S & P 500 down 17% from late July to mid-August. The market this past week stumbled with the debt ceiling deadline looming and over concern about regional bank failures.

SINGAPORE, May 10 (Reuters) - Stocks were struggling to advance in Asia and the dollar was firm on Wednesday ahead of U.S. consumer price data that could damage hopes for interest rate cuts later this year if inflation fails to show much of a decline. Overnight the S&P 500 (.SPX) fell 0.5% and S&P 500 futures were steady in the Asian morning. A firm U.S. dollar pushed the euro back below $1.10 to $1.0971. REUTERS/Jim Vondruska/File PhotoNEW YORK, May 10 (Reuters) - A gloomy forecast from vacation rental firm Airbnb (ABNB.O) weighed on travel-related stocks on Wednesday as an expected slowdown in bookings signaled an impending slump in travel demand with consumers seeking cheaper accommodation amid inflation and recession fears. Airbnb's forecast will heighten caution in the travel sector, which encompasses hotels, airlines, and vacation rental firms, according to an investor note by JPMorgan analysts, led by Doug Anmuth. "We also believe Airbnb's commentary will result in increased caution in the travel space, but more specifically around vacation and the U.S.," the analysts said. With world markets still at an impasse on the extent of the economic slowdown and chance of recession, the U.S. debt ceiling impasse remains unresolved - and Tuesday's showdown at the White House is one of the few opportunities left to resolve it. Biden meets Republican House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy for the first time since February. There are only six days this month when the House and the Senate are in session when Biden is in Washington. Longer-term Treasury yields remain under wraps, however, with 2-year yields hovering just under 4%. DEBT CEILINGBeyond the debt ceiling row, the picture of the wider economy remains equivocal.
Wynn Resorts (WYNN) delivered a much better-than-expected first quarter Wednesday, with the casino. It appears the miss could be attributed to individual wealthy gamblers frequenting Wynn Palace at the expense of Wynn Macao, which historically is more exposed to groups and tours. Las Vegas Wynn Las Vegas continues to post big results, generating an all-time record adjusted EBITDAR of $231.6 million. There may be a lot of talk out there about a pullback in consumer spending, but it isn't showing up at Wynn Las Vegas. On a hold normalized basis, Wynn Las Vegas' EBITDAR margins expanded 300 basis points year-over-year and 1,400 basis points from the first quarter of 2019.

Carly Pifer, founder of online erotica site Aurore, edits erotica stories professionally. It was one of the reasons she started Aurore, an online erotica community where women and LGBTQ+ writers can submit confessional-style true stories. "I want something slow, meandering, I want something that's like a tease…you're not going get straight to sex," Pifer told Insider. "I don't really care what color lipstick you're wearing and like how often as women do we really wear red lips?" Building up to sex is one of the most important parts of erotica, according to Pifer — and of intimacy itself.
