For this costume, you’ll need a fedora, a (preferably pastel) dress shirt, a tie matching the hat and, if you’re really feeling the fantasy, a color-coordinated sweater vest. Reyes said Hollywood films often reflected the politics of their time — and that had an influence on Latino roles. Studies by the Government Accountability Office, the University of Southern California and other groups consistently show that Latinos are underrepresented in the film industry. Just this year, UCLA’s Hollywood Diversity Report documented “enormous gains” by women and people of color, but Latino representation still lagged. Slowly but surely, we are shaking up the narrative in Hollywood.”Calderón is frustrated by the continuing practice of “brownface,” whereby Latino roles go to white actors. Sanchez cited Eugenio Derbez in “Coda” (2021) as an example of a well-written Latino film character.
As the host of the radio program the "The CEO Show" for the last 15 years, I've interviewed more than 1,000 of the world's top CEOs. These leaders all come from different backgrounds and have run very different companies, from Proctor & Gamble to Dunkin' Brands to LinkedIn. Robert Sanchez became CEO of Ryder System, a multibillion-dollar transportation and supply chain solutions company, in 2013. Nearly all the CEOs I talked to listed collaboration skills as one of their most desired traits in an employee. So rather than being offended, "any time someone interrupted me, I actually saw it as a positive opportunity," he said.
But the report stated that CDC had heard from the transit industry that it wanted the federal government to issue a mandate. Cetron, who heads the CDC's division of global migration and quarantine, said the agency was told by Trump administration officials that a mask requirement on mass transportation "would not happen," according to the report. Days after President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, the CDC issued a sweeping order requiring face masks on nearly all forms of public transportation. Reuters reported in July 2020 that the Trump administration had held extensive talks about whether the CDC should issue an order requiring transportation masking. Many U.S. conservatives opposed government mandates requiring masks during the pandemic.
On the agenda today:But first: Senior healthcare reporter Shelby Livingston is giving us a behind-the-scenes look at her reporting on Elemy, a startup that insiders say often failed to provide the quick access to autism care that it had promised. This week, I reported how SoftBank-backed Elemy aimed to transform autism care — but insiders say the $1.15 billion startup overpromised on its capacity to treat kids. More than 20 former and current employees spoke with me for this story. After an initial assessment, Elemy told them they'd be in therapy in no more than eight weeks. Here's what Compass insiders told us.
The case centers on how courts decide when an artist makes "fair use" of another's work under copyright law. The Supreme Court will hear arguments in the estate's appeal of a lower court's decision favoring Goldsmith. The Supreme Court's eventual decision could have broad or narrow implications for fair use depending on the ruling, Tushnet said. The Warhol estate told the Supreme Court the 2nd Circuit's decision "casts a cloud of legal uncertainty over an entire genre of visual art, including canonical works by Andy Warhol and countless other artists." Goldsmith's lawyers told the Supreme Court that a ruling favoring the foundation would "transform copyright law into all copying, no right."

Latinos are underrepresented in the media industry workforce across film, radio, television, newspapers and digital platforms, according to the report. Latinos are 19% of the nation's population, almost 1 in 5 Americans, and 18% of workers outside the media industry. The largest percentage of Hispanic media industry workers were employed in service worker positions (19%) — which include food, cleaning and personal and protective services, according to the latest available reports submitted by media companies to the U.S. In positions that can influence the content audiences consume, Latinos were far less represented: They made up only 7% of professional media industry positions such as actors, producers, directors, writers, reporters and editors. When Latinos did see themselves represented in content, they felt "it was inaccurate" in most cases, de Armas said.

Corporate greed, not wages, is fueling inflation, says former President Bill Clinton's Secretary of Labor. Some experts say government antitrust enforcement and even price controls deserve consideration. "Profit-price inflation" — caused by companies "raising their prices above their increasing costs" — is the key factor fueling inflation, Reich wrote in a Guardian op-ed Sunday. Still others, like Reich, believe cracking down on record-high corporate profits is the best way to cool prices in the US. "This is why corporate profits are close to levels not seen in over half a century," he wrote.

The CFO of Compass believes profits will catch up to the real-estate brokerage's rapid growth. The conversation took a turn when Compass' CEO and cofounder, Robert Reffkin, suggested instead that Ankerbrandt join as its chief financial officer. Earlier this year, Ankerbrandt helped steward Compass' much-anticipated initial public offering that valued the firm at about $7 billion. "We had $370 million in revenue in 2017, and we did $3.7 billion in 2020, which is pretty incredible," Ankerbrandt said. For years, upstarts in the residential real-estate business have sought to displace or deprioritize the role of the broker.
