Read previewPublishers are racing to be known for "premium" content to keep advertising revenue afloat, but there's a swirling debate in the industry over how to define it. AdvertisementFor example, some broadcasters are pitching their streaming content as premium by selling it directly to advertisers without using third-party adtech companies. Broadcasters are gunning for control of streaming ad dollarsAt the same time, TV publishers are angling to define themselves as makers of premium content that appeals to advertisers. Instead of premium content, many advertisers are more concerned with premium audiences who are watching streaming content. Still, Gupta from U of Digital said that broadcasters have the upper hand in deciding what is considered premium content because there is a lack of high-quality content in streaming environments.

UK millionaires are fleeing Britain in their thousands
  + stars: | 2024-06-18 | by ( Mark Thompson | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +4 min
The continuing exodus from the UK — 16,500 millionaires left between 2017 and 2023 — is part of a global mass migration of the rich that appears to be accelerating. The Henley Private Wealth Migration report found that 128,000 millionaires are set to relocate this year, beating last year’s record by 8,000. By contrast, the ranks of the wealthy have grown in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany and France over the same period. “The outflow of high-net-worth individuals already generated by the economic and political context is now being accelerated by policy decisions ahead of the election,” said White. Still, one very rich couple will apparently be staying, whatever the result on July 4.

Thanking Jacobs-Jenkins in her acceptance speech, Paulson said: “I will never be able to convey my gratitude to you for trusting me, for letting me hold the hand of Toni Lafayette, a woman you have written who makes no apology, who isn’t begging to be liked or approved of but does hope to be seen.”Though Paulson has found fame in television series like “American Horror Story” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” — winning an Emmy for her performance as the prosecutor Marcia Clark — her career has roots in theater. And she was exposed to Broadway early on. After she moved to New York City as a child, her mother worked as a waitress at Sardi’s, a Broadway haunt that just so happens to be next door to the theater where “Appropriate” opened in December. Paulson’s first job out of high school was as an understudy on Broadway for Amy Ryan in “The Sisters Rosensweig.” (Ryan, who starred in the play “Doubt,” was also nominated in the leading actress category this year.)

This is, says Kowert, because “games reflect culture.”Adding climate crisis elements to games can also make the topic more accessible, Kowert says. On the side of the Catan: New Energies board, a little black marker tracks the level of greenhouse gasses in the current game. It can also trigger the early end of the game, in which case the player with the most renewable power plants wins. Players can add green discs to the bag — which can give players using renewable energy bonuses — by building renewable power plants. When development on New Energies started in 2011 there were three renewable energy sources: wind, water and solar.

Latinas face the steepest climb up the corporate ladder despite being as ambitious as their white peers, according to new research from Lean In. Latinas lag behind nearly all other major demographic groups in the executive ranks — white men and white women, Black men and women, even Latino men — comprising a mere 1% of C-suite executives at U.S. companies. A "broken rung" at the first critical step up to manager is still holding Latinas back from climbing the corporate ladder — for every 100 men promoted to manager, only 74 Latinas are promoted, Lean In reports. Latinas are less likely than white women and women overall to have their work highlighted to a leader or to have benefited from a sponsor action like being recommended for a promotion. Nearly half (44%) of Latinas say career growth has become more important to them in the last two years, compared with 32% of white women, Lean In reports.

Constantly searching for new coffee shops has taught me how to better trust my instincts. AdvertisementMany independent coffee shops closed during or shortly after the height of the pandemic. Plus, at local coffee shops, I'm one of few customers instead of one of many in a long line. Sometimes, I still end up at coffee chains — but my self-imposed ban means I'll opt for smaller ones like Blank Street or Gregory's Coffee instead of mega-global franchises. It's just that by quitting, my coffee world has opened up beyond the limitations of one company — and forever hunting for a new coffee shop has become my ultimate pick-me-up.

For young, secular, politically progressive men and women, having children has become something of an afterthought. Indeed, the data suggest that people are having children later than they used to and are having fewer than they’d like. Unreserved enthusiasm for having children can come across as essentially reactionary. Over the past four years, we’ve conducted interviews and surveys with hundreds of young Americans about their attitudes toward having children. If they are not, they face a choice of returning to the dating pool, freezing their eggs (if they haven’t done so already), single parenting or giving up their hope of having kids of their own.

CNN —Maritime aid deliveries to Gaza resumed Saturday after a US-built temporary pier was repaired a day prior, US Central Command announced. CENTCOM made it clear Saturday that the pier, “including its equipment, personnel, and assets,” was not used in the operation. The pier, used in addition to dropping aid out of planes and trucking it through border checkpoints, sustained damage and broke apart in heavy seas late last month. In the less than two weeks the pier was operational, it helped deliver some 1,000 metric tons of aid to Gaza. The US had faced a number of challenges with the pier, including planning around Israel’s operations in Rafah, establishing who would transport the aid from the pier into Gaza, and logistical issues such as sea and weather conditions.
