"The royal family are a competitive bunch, they always have been and always will be," royal biographer Andrew Morton told Reuters. "Prince William is the future king, Prince Harry no longer has a royal role. William and Kate will visit Boston, primarily to attend an awards ceremony for the Earthshot environmental prize which the prince set up. In contrast, William and Kate are portrayed in the British media as dutiful and earnest, encapsulating the style of monarchy set by the late queen. "I can tell you that Americans have never been as enthusiastic about the royal family as they are now," said Morton, who was in California to promote his latest book "The Queen".
CNN —Twenty-five years after she first played the role of Cinderella, Brandy is stepping into her glass slippers again. The singer and actress will reprise her role as the fairytale heroine, first seen in the 1997 television movie “Cinderella,” in a new installment of the “Descendants” franchise for Disney+, the Mouse House announced Monday. The first three films, which included “Descendants 2” from 2017, starred Dove Cameron, Booboo Stewart and the late Cameron Boyce. Brandy starred in the Emmy Award-winning late-90s retelling of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” opposite Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother, for ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney. Disney also announced Monday that “Descendants” fan favorite Melanie Paxson will reprise her role as the Fairy Godmother from the previous “Descendants” movies for “The Pocketwatch.”A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
In August 2020, Disney's Marvel Studios was faced with an unenviable task — how to handle the sudden and tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, the star of its megahit film "Black Panther." With the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" sequel slated for release in mid-2022, Marvel executives and Coogler needed to quickly decide what to do with the character of T'Challa, who was played by Boseman and becomes the Black Panther superhero after the death of his father. Since the Black Panther is a key character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio could have recast the character and carried on with production. In the sequel, the Black Panther is not gone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His passing deeply affects his community and the supporting characters from "Black Panther."
REUTERS/Gonzalo FuentesPARIS, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Two pieces of furniture formerly owned by France's Queen Marie Antoinette are set to go to auction on November 22 in Paris. The 250-year-old chest of drawers and chair are estimated to be worth 800,000 to 1.2 million euros ($832,000-1.25 million) and 100,000 to 200,000 euros ($104,000-208,000) respectively. She would marry the soon-to-be Louis XVI that year." The chair was the last royal order placed by the then queen, before she was overthrown during the French Revolution and later executed at age 37. Last year, a pair of diamond bracelets which also belonged to the former Queen were sold at auction in Switzerland for $8.18 million, several times the pre-sale estimate.
The US Patent and Trademark Office rejected Mariah Carey's bid to trademark "Queen of Christmas". She told Variety: "Christmas is meant to be shared – it's not meant to be owned." Chan, a full-time festive singer-songwriter, was herself described as the "Queen of Christmas" by The New Yorker magazine in 2018. Carey's trademark application would have given her the legal right to stop others from using the festive titles on music and merchandise. Chan wasn't the only person to raise concerns about Carey's festive trademark application.
CNN —Candace Cameron Bure has moved on from being Hallmark Channel’s queen of holiday movies. In a recently published interview with the Wall Street Journal, the actress talked about leaving that cable channel to work with another, the faith based Great American Family. “My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” Bure told the publication. Bill Abbott, chief executive of Great American Media, oversees the new network. “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,” Cameron Bure told the Journal.
New York CNN Business —“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” had the major challenge of following “Black Panther,” one of the biggest blockbusters ever, and had to do so without star Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020. Despite all of the challenges, “Wakanda Forever” notched a sizable box office opening this weekend. As for its critical reception, “Wakanda Forever” notched an 84% score on review site Rotten Tomatoes. “‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ faced an inordinate degree of difficulty, addressing the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman,” Brian Lowry, CNN’s media critic, wrote in his review. The debut of “Wakanda Forever” will unlikely impact Disney’s stock since investors remain heavily focused on the company’s streaming endeavors.
If early projections and ticket sales are any indication, it appears “Wakanda Forever” will be just that. Maya Rudolph doesn’t need to say anything to make us laugh. Audiences around the world want to watch her perform, and only the slightest twitch of her face begets giggles. She can impersonate an elusive chanteuse or an over-the-top Italian designer or make a phrase like “bubble bath” sound luxuriously burlesque. But years ago, when it came to public-facing parts of her job—interviews, talk shows, red carpets—she would find herself unable to be funny. “It would always feel like someone was stealing my soul,” says Rudolph, 50, sitting comfortably in a velvet armchair on a late September afternoon.

“YOU KNOW THE STORY of margherita pizza,” said Javier Ramirez, chef and co-owner of La Natural in Miami. “It was invented for Margherita of Savoy, the Queen of Italy, and the toppings—basil, mozzarella and tomatoes—are the colors of the Italian flag.” Mr. Ramirez’s rendition of that classic serves as his first Slow Food Fast contribution—and also speaks to his personality as a chef: minimalist, fanatic about ingredients and obsessed with pizza perfection. At his restaurant, Mr. Ramirez builds his pies with a naturally risen sourdough that he’s spent three years perfecting. But if you don’t have the time or inclination to make your own, a good store-bought ball will suffice. Let it rise in a covered bowl at room temperature for a few hours: This makes for a delicate crust and easier shaping.

LONDON, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 19: The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II passes through Horse Guards Parade during the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19, 2022 in London, England. Chris J Ratcliffe/Pool via REUTERSWESTMINSTER ABBEY, London, Sept 19 (Reuters) - As the last notes of the poignant Last Post trumpet fanfare echoed around the vaulted ceilings of London's historic Westminster Abbey, a deep silence pervaded the majestic gothic cathedral. World leaders and dignitaries from about 200 countries and territories, some openly hostile to each other, united briefly for two minutes of silence in a show of tribute at the state funeral of Britain's Queen Elizabeth. Some members of Queen Elizabeth's family had pain etched on their faces as they followed her coffin into the Abbey. For the leaders of those realms, Monday's funeral was likely to represent not just a farewell to Elizabeth but a goodbye to monarchy.
After the death of Queen Elizabeth II last week, online users are calling for the British government to surrender artifacts obtained by the British Empire, including the Kohinoor diamond — one of the most famous diamonds in the world. Conversations about the diamond — also spelled Koh-i-noor — which is part of the British crown jewels, have been trending on social media amid coverage of the queen’s death, with users posting their opinions about the empire — and memes about stealing the diamond back. “The actual histories of British imperialism tell a much different story, one of horrific violence, dispossession, prejudice and significant economic exploitation,” she said. Maharaja Duleep Singh, the son and successor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, held on to the diamond until the British annexed Punjab in 1849. Queen Elizabeth II meets Indira Gandhi at Hyderabad House in Delhi, India, in 1983. The proposition before this house is the principle of owing reparations … the question is: is there a debt?… As far as I’m concerned, the ability to acknowledge a wrong that has been done, to simply say sorry, will go a far, far, far longer way than some percentage of GDP in the form of aid,” Tharoor said.
