During his travels, the professional cyclist has braved brutal headwinds, extreme temperatures, dangerous traffic and even dusted himself off after a run-in with a kangaroo. That’s all while cycling up to 17 or 18 hours a day, stopping only to sleep, eat and mentally reset before doing it all again. “Rainy days, big, long headwind days – I think mentally they’re probably the most challenging,” says Morton. Reminding yourself that you’re just on a bike ride becomes very important.”This, however, is far from any normal bike ride. Morton has had to negotiate large trucks on his cycle around Australia.

Carroll had little interest in cruises, but a writing retreat aboard the Queen Mary 2 intrigued her. The solo travel part wasn't out of character — I'd spent most of my 20s backpacking alone. It was this writing retreat — with its promise of expert instruction plus time to focus — that enticed me to get on board a ship. I was hoping that a writing retreat would reignite that spark. Laura Gio CarrollAs it turned out, the writing cruise went swimmingly (despite my never once going swimming while aboard).

With homes becoming increasingly unaffordable, more buyers are using an increasingly popular strategy to lower their mortgage rate. Buying points — also referred to as "discount points" or "buying down the rate" — involves paying extra to your lender at closing to reduce the interest rate on a mortgage. That reduced rate results in smaller monthly payments and long-term interest savings over the life of the loan. A larger down payment reduces the total loan amount, which also has the effect of lowering monthly payments. Ultimately, whether a larger down payment or buying points will actually lower your monthly payments depends on your specific loan terms.

When Jyoti Bansal made "the hardest decision" of his career — selling his software startup AppDynamics for billions — he did it with his employees in mind. As the startup's founder and chairman, Bansal would've become wealthy either way — but only one of his two options guaranteed the same for many of his staffers, he says. Upon Bansal's acceptance of the offer, roughly 400 AppDynamics employees saw their shares of the company rise in value to at least $1 million, a spokesperson for Bansal says. Today, he's the CEO and co-founder of two other software startups, Traceable and Harness, the latter of which was most recently valued at $3.7 billion in 2022. At least 70 of the company's 80 employees became millionaires on paper when VeriSign's stock soared two years later, Chaudhry said.

The oil tanker 'Devon' prepares to transfer crude oil from Kharg Island oil terminal to India in the Persian Gulf, Iran, on March 23, 2018. Oil prices could shoot up $20 per barrel if Iranian production sees a hit resulting from Israeli retaliation, according to Goldman Sachs. U.S. crude oil prices just saw a third consecutive session of gains after Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on Israel, heightening tensions in the region. If Israel hits Iran's oil industry, supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz could become of concern, other analysts echoed. Between 1979 and 2024, productivity in the U.S. soared by 80.9%, while hourly pay grew by just 29.4%, according to research by the Economic Policy Institute. But more recently, some economists have suggested that deliberate policy decisions have actively suppressed workers' wage growth. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the natural rate of unemployment has hovered between 4.5% and 5.5% throughout history. But since 1979, the U.S. has spent far more time with actual unemployment well above that estimated natural rate. Watch the video above to find out how middle-class wages are being suppressed.

And it’s a playbook that former President Donald Trump’s campaign has tossed aside. It’s a gamble, Trump’s campaign internally acknowledges, but one that they insist is built on data they have collected over nearly a decade and tested for the past six months. Days later, the Michigan state party chairman also plugged 10xVotes when he rolled into Traverse City, Michigan, alongside Trump running mate JD Vance. But rather than courting those voters, Trump’s campaign is in search of new ones. Trump’s campaign has also tried to seize on discord within the Democratic coalition.
