Former President Donald Trump repeated again and again debunked rumors related to Venezuelan gangs in a Colorado town during Tuesday night’s presidential debate. But the property management company that owns the buildings blamed a Venezuelan gang for the rundown conditions. Aurora police haven’t yet determined whether the men in the video belong to a Venezuelan gang, KUSA reported. Protesters at a City Council meeting Monday object to what they say is the politicizing and exaggeration of an alleged Venezuelan gang problem in Aurora. “Voters can avoid having their votes co-opted by falsehoods by being aware of this trend and taking a few simple steps to confirm whether the claims they’re seeing are true.”

"They're eating the dogs, the people that came in, they're eating the cats," Trump said during an answer to a question about immigration. "They're eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what's happening in our country, and it's a shame." Baseless rumors have spread on social media for days claiming that Haitian immigrants in Ohio are abducting and eating pets. New York CNN —The battle over “founder mode” versus “manager mode” is one of those manufactured dramas that only a small segment of the world cares about — like going to Davos or Cannes or the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. The idea is that a founder knows their company the way a parent knows their child. Graham doesn’t really define founder mode because every founder and every firm is different. I’ll offer another: Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater, one of the world’s biggest hedge funds. The most successful “founder mode” guys (they’re almost all male, as far as I can tell) seemed to always have a trusted manager by their side.

Brazil and Argentina both lose World Cup qualifiers

CNN —Brazil and Argentina both suffered defeats in their qualifying matches ahead of the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday. For the Seleção, the 1-0 defeat against Paraguay was particularly concerning as it marked the team’s fourth defeat in the past five qualifiers. The result leaves the five-time World Cup winner fifth in the standings with the top six sides automatically earning a spot in the 2026 tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico. It was otherwise a lackluster showing from Brazil, which enjoyed 71% of possession but produced only three shots on target. Argentina has six wins from its eight World Cup qualifying games and sits two points ahead of Colombia, still unbeaten with four wins and four draws, in the standings.

During the June debate, the moderators did not correct false claims made by Trump and President Joe Biden. The Missouri Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that an amendment that would enshrine abortion access in the state's constitution can appear on the general election ballot. A majority of the state Supreme Court said that a previous judgment by a circuit court is reversed, directing Missouri Secretary of State John Ashcroft to inform local election officials to place Amendment 3 on the state's Nov. 5 ballot. "The Missouri Supreme Court’s ruling ensures that Amendment 3, the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative, will appear on the November ballot, giving voters—not politicians—the power to decide on this critical issue. Missouri is one of 10 states that will have an abortion-rights amendment on the ballot this year. In that ruling, Limbaugh stopped short of removing the measure from the ballot, providing the campaign the opportunity instead to appeal to the state Supreme Court before a Tuesday deadline.

New Hampshire voters will head to the polls Tuesday for a primary that will set up the matchup for one of just two governor’s races in presidential battleground states this year. In addition to North Carolina, New Hampshire is the only other swing state to hold a race for governor this election cycle. “I think that helps people in New Hampshire realize that Kelly Ayotte is a New Hampshire Republican, not a straight party loyalist,” Williams said. In New Hampshire, abortion is banned after fetal viability, or around the 24th week of pregnancy. “We’ve seen in the last few years that governors and state leadership sort of make or break it when it comes to protecting abortion rights,” Levy said.

WASHINGTON — Allies of Donald Trump see Tuesday's debate as a pivotal moment for the Republican presidential nominee — a chance to shore up support and turn the corner from Kamala Harris' post-nomination "honeymoon." Trump allies are hopeful that the debate will cap a turnaround from the recent weeks of tumult and help him enter the fall on a competitive footing. “Everyone on Team Trump firmly believes that we’re better-positioned to win,” said a source close to Trump. Harris poses a different set of challenges for Trump on the debate stage. “The Democrats and the Harris campaign have done an amazing job at messaging and hitting at the right time.

While job growth in the sector faces uncertainty after the election, industry watchers say the future of energy production and consumption is always changing. The IRA is projected to generate more than 300,000 jobs annually for new energy project construction and about 100,000 permanent jobs each year, according to EESI. The rate was more than double the growth for the rest of the energy sector and the overall U.S. economy, according to the newly released 2024 U.S. Energy and Employment Report. Recent data from the Department of Energy showed clean energy employment increased by 142,000 jobs last year, accounting for more than half of new energy sector jobs. One sector that faces particular uncertainty after the election is clean energy, which has received a boost from the Biden administration but faced skepticism from Trump.
