CNN —A 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 Streamliner valued between $50-70 million is among the historic cars set to be sold by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. “These vehicles will be some of the world’s most significant cars ever sold,” Gord Duff, global head of auctions at RM Sotheby’s, said in the statement. The cars will be sold at different events late this year and in 2025, according to the statement. In 2022, a very rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coupe that had been kept in the German automaker’s collection was sold to a private buyer for €135 million ($142 million at the time). “The Ferrari 250 GTO is the motoring market’s equivalent of Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ and a talisman for any top-end collection,” he said.

Through a local organization, we connected with an outreach worker who supports vulnerable women. She was an essential link in making this film; her trust and love in the community made it possible for the women to open up to us. To ensure the women felt comfortable sharing their often ignored stories without fear of judgment or compromised privacy, we chose to incorporate animation. Her distinctive, stream-of-consciousness animation conveys the nuanced emotions and inner worlds of the women. We hope it fosters greater empathy and insight into lives that deserve to be understood and valued.

The contenders for San Francisco mayor are perfecting the pronunciation of their names in Cantonese. They are scrambling to recruit the best Chinese-speaking volunteers, in what one campaign manager described as a bona fide “arms race.”And they are grabbing any opportunity to meet with Chinese American voters in the city. “Now they almost never turn down an invitation to come, and they stay for the whole event,” Mr. Lee said with a chuckle. “They know that the Chinese vote is quite powerful now.”Nationally, Asian American voters often have to fight for attention because their numbers are still considered too few in most states for campaigns to invest heavily in outreach. But in San Francisco, where people of Chinese descent comprise more than one-fifth of the population, mayoral candidates believe that Chinese voters could decide the outcome in November.

Read previewA contentious judging decision and messy appeals process has roiled women's gymnastics — and spiraled into an international argument for Olympic bronze between the US and Romania. It kicked the final decision to the International Olympic Committee, which ordered Chiles to return her bronze medal. On Sunday, USA Gymnastics said it had video evidence — which it hadn't previously submitted — which proved Landi's inquiry was made within 47 seconds. USA Gymnastics vowed Monday to "continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal." Trump’s plan for blunting Harris’ momentum, some Democrats believe, could reprise elements of the 1988 presidential campaign that George H.W. “I think the Harris campaign has to be prepared for it.”The two sides are already hotly contesting the terrain of strength. Celinda Lake, a Democratic pollster who conducted surveys for Biden’s 2020 campaign, said his strength deficit to Trump had become a nearly insurmountable obstacle for his 2024 campaign. The surveys have also found a huge gender gap in the assessments of whether Harris and Trump are strong. Most important, voters have reached these initial assessments of Harris’ strength before Republicans have really begun their campaign to portray her as weak.

I grew up in Southern California in the 80s and 90s, where my dad introduced my brother, my sister and me to the surprisingly big ice hockey scene there. I went on to be a member of the U.S. Women's Hockey team in 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. Watching them, I've thought a lot about what it was like to come back from my own critical injury. Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games: What can we expect?

CNN —The Paris Games are over, the Olympic flame that hung suspended in a cauldron above the Jardins de Tuileries extinguished, and the Olympic flag handed over to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games. Now only a mere 1,432 days away, the LA Olympics begins on July 14, 2028 with its opening ceremony and will run until July 30. So, what can we expect from the Los Angeles Olympic Games in four years’ time? Los Angeles has already hosted two Olympics, in 1932 and 1984, leaving enough infrastructure in place that there won’t be any new permanent venues built for 2028, and athletes will be housed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), instead of a purpose-built Olympic Village. Although it isn’t yet clear exactly where each and every sport will take place in Los Angeles, organizers have already announced some of their biggest venues.

In conversations with nearly a dozen Democratic lawmakers and candidates running in competitive races across the country, a common theme emerged. Tim Walz, Democrats have felt a tangible bump of energy in their districts, through spikes in volunteers, donations and event turnout. Rep. Los Angeles is already looking ahead. The projects are funded through a mix of federal and city dollars as well as airport fees. And there will also be the tourist dollars spent while the Games take place. The city sees the Olympics as a revenue producer, not an expense. In 2019, two years after Los Angeles was awarded the Games, Eric Garcetti, then the mayor, said he expected the city to turn a $1 billion profit.
