Investigators said a confidential witness implicated a former Republican candidate for the New Mexico state legislature in a series of drive-by shootings targeting Democratic officials, according to details of the arrest warrant.
Solomon Peña , 39, who lost his race for state representative to his Democratic opponent in November, was arrested Monday, Albuquerque, N.M., police said.
Before the shootings, Mr. Peña showed up uninvited at the homes of some of the Democratic lawmakers, claiming to have evidence of election fraud, they said.
