CNN —A woman from Lagos, Nigeria, has entered the record books after weaving a handmade wig that measures 351.28 meters (1,152 feet, 5 inches) in length. Professional wigmaker Helen Williams spent more than two million naira (almost $2,500) and 11 days making the wig, which is longer than seven Olympic swimming pools. “Finding the materials to make the longest wig was not an easy task,” said Williams in the statement. “I have trained hundreds of students and have made thousands of wigs,” said Williams, although her record-breaking endeavor still proved difficult. The outcome is the longest handmade wig in the world.”Williams is a professional wigmaker in Lagos, Nigeria.

REUTERS/Damir Sagolj/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsMANILA/BEIJING, Nov 10 (Reuters) - The Philippines on Friday condemned China's coast guard for "unprovoked acts of coercion and dangerous manoeuvres," including its use of a water cannon against one of its boats in an attempt to disrupt a resupply mission in the South China Sea. China's coast guard said two small Philippine transport ships and three coast guard ships entered the waters without the permission of the Chinese government and urged the Philippines to stop infringing on Beijing's sovereignty. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said during his visit to Manila on Saturday that his country, the Philippines and the United States were cooperating to protect the freedom of the South China Sea. China's use of water cannons followed a series of incidents in the South China Sea, including the collisions between China's vessels and two Manila ships on Oct. 22. The Philippines accused China coastguard of "intentionally" colliding with its vessels.

When a Google employee asked the company if he could organize his work schedule to work fewer hours on more days, a human resources representative responded saying the average Google employee works more than a normal 9-to-5 work day — seeming to refute earlier reports that Googlers have light workloads. The memo also said the company allows employees to apply for schedules that are 60% or 80% of full-time. The HR representative's confirmation that employees typically work long hours made some workers eager to share that information with their friends and relatives, according to internal message boards. Those one-hour workday reports went viral — including with Google employees' friends and family. Google employees have received public backlash due to recruiting tactics such as wide-ranging corporate perks, which were largely used by tech companies to acquire talent during the last two decades.

CNN —Prosecutors with special counsel Jack Smith’s office have accused former President Donald Trump’s legal team of seeking to manipulate the courts in their bid to delay his trials past the 2024 presidential election. Currently, the 2020 election federal trial is set to begin in early March, and the Florida documents case is set to go to trial in late May. The request may be a long-shot before Chutkan of the DC federal District Court, who has indicated she wants the March trial date to hold. Prosecutors from special counsel Jack Smith’s office – which is prosecuting both federal cases against Trump – seized on Trump’s request in DC as they argued to keep the Florida federal trial in the spring. Neither judge has said if Trump’s federal trial dates will stay as is.

Trump’s lawyers have repeatedly complained to the judge in the Mar-a-Lago criminal document-mishandling case that they haven’t had proper access to classified evidence in the case as they prepare for a trial next May. Cannon, a Trump appointee, has so far given Trump’s team some of the leeway they’ve asked for in the documents investigation. The defense teams have access to more than 1 million pages of information in the case, according to court filings. In a filing last week, prosecutors told the judge Trump’s team has cried wolf about their access to evidence in the case, including classified records. Trump’s legal team has been reviewing and discussing classified evidence in Miami, most recently on Tuesday, when the former president joined his lawyers in the SCIF during the afternoon, according to a source familiar with the matter.

[1/3] Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto's 'Venus of the Rags' is displayed in Piazza Municipio before being destroyed in a fire, in Naples, Italy June 27, 2023. It will absorb what was left from the fire of the original artwork, art critic Vincenzo Trione explained, "to show that it is possible to rise from the ashes, not only metaphorically". The original "Venus of the Rags" was created in 1967 and various versions are on display in museums across Europe, including the Tate Gallery in Liverpool, northern England. I would have never thought in 1967 that I would find myself once again immersed in this piece of art," Pistoletto said, adding that "we must now heal (Venus)". The installation is meant to convey the juxtaposition between eternal beauty, represented by Venus, and modern society's social degradation and consumerism.
