The 19-year-old Walmart employee who was found dead in the store’s walk-in oven in Canada was discovered by her mother, who also worked there, according to a community fundraiser for the family. “On Oct. 19th, the fateful Saturday night, she was found burned to death in the walk-in oven at Walmart bakery,” the fundraiser said. at 9:30 p.m. and found the young woman's body in a “large walk-in oven belonging to the store’s bakery department.”Kaur and her mother had worked at the Walmart for two years, according to the fundraiser. That evening, Kaur’s mother tried to find her after not seeing her for one hour. “Mother started panicking as it was unusual for [Kaur] to switch her phone off during the day,” the fundraiser said.

A San Francisco man has sued Alaska Airlines alleging negligence led to the death of his beloved 3-year-old French bulldog after he was asked to move from first-class to coach on a flight from New York to San Francisco. The lawsuit, filed Oct. 16 in San Francisco County Superior Court against Alaska Airlines, alleges breach of contract, negligence, negligent hiring and supervision, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and seeks punitive damages to be determined at trial. However, shortly before take off, “an Alaska Airlines flight attendant and another unknown male employee of Alaska Airlines asked the Plaintiff and his father to move to aisle 11 of the Plane for safety purposes,” the complaint said. Alaska Airlines employees should have known the requirements needed to avoid that happening,” the filing claimed. NBC News has reached out to Alaska Airlines and attorneys for Contillo for comment.

New York CNN —A day after an E. coli outbreak tied to Quarter Pounders in the western part of the United States left one dead and 10 hospitalized, McDonald’s entered full damage-control mode. “We are very confident that you can go to McDonald’s and enjoy our classics,” McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger said on NBC’s “Today” Wednesday. Most of the illnesses are in Colorado and Nebraska, and most of the people who fell ill ate Quarter Pounders at McDonald’s. “If there has been contaminated product within our supply chain, it’s very likely worked itself through that supply chain already.”McDonald’s (MCD) stock fell more than 5% at Wednesday — its worst day since the March 2020 Covid lockdown. Chipotle’s outbreak is the worst-case scenario for any restaurant chain, and McDonald’s E. coli situation appears to be limited, at least for now, to a supply issue.

Los Angeles Associated Press —Ron Ely, the tall, musclebound actor who played the title character in the 1960s NBC series “Tarzan,” has died at age 86. While Ron Ely was not quite as well-known as Johnny Weismuller, the Olympic swimmer who played Tarzan in movies in the 1930s and 1940s, Ely helped form the image of the shirtless, loincloth-wearing character further immortalized by Disney. “He was an actor, writer, coach, mentor, family man and leader,” Kirsten Ely said in an Instagram post.
