Satellites recently captured plant life blooming in parts of the typically arid southern Sahara after storms moved there when they shouldn’t. NASARainfall north of the equator in Africa typically increases from July through September as the West African Monsoon kicks into gear. “The Intertropical Convergence Zone, which is the reason for (Africa’s) greening, moves farther north the warmer the world gets,” Haustein explained. NOAA's Climate Prediction CenterTake the northern portion of Chad, which is part of the Sahara Desert. Only up to an inch of rain typically falls here from about mid-July to early September.

CNN —Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy says the Red Devils can finish in the top four this season, but are still behind the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the English Premier League (EPL) title race. But in the league last season, United languished in eighth position, the club’s worst ever finish in the Premier League era and nowhere near the qualification spots for the lucrative Champions League. Since McCarthy left ahead of the new season, United has lost two of its first three league games. Speaking to CNN Sport, though, McCarthy remained optimistic about the Red Devils and stressed that opponents may regret overlooking the 13-time Premier League winners. Nashville police are praising singer Jon Bon Jovi for helping prevent a tragedy by speaking to a woman who was on the ledge of a bridge on Tuesday night. WATERVILLE, Maine — A settlement that led to the dismissal of a wrongful death lawsuit hasn’t ended a criminal investigation into a toddler’s disappearance from her father’s home in Maine where blood was found more than a decade ago. But that doesn’t change the status of the criminal investigation. A 911 call in December 2011 alerted police that Ayla was not in her bed, triggering what became the state’s largest and most expensive criminal investigation. The disappearance prompted a massive search by Waterville, Maine, and state police, game wardens, and FBI agents who canvassed neighborhoods and lowered several streams. Justin DiPietro was also charged with breach of his parental duty to protect his daughter.

The United States is no longer primarily an industrial economy, and the changes in the index over the last 126 years reflect that evolution. Beyond that, there are two other major issues indicating that Boeing no longer belongs in the Dow. Trying to stay relevantBoeing obviously wasn’t an early component of the Dow — the index started seven years before the first plane flew at Kitty Hawk, and 20 years before Boeing was incorporated. In 2020, the Dow dropped ExxonMobil, then struggling with low oil prices during the pandemic, and added tech company Salesforce, then on a tear. Boeing declined to comment when asked about its membership in the Dow.
