New York CNN —One of the most eagerly anticipated items ever made by Taco Bell is finally getting a nationwide release. The “Big Cheez-It Tostada” layers ground beef, reduced-fat sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and cheddar cheese on the cheesy cracker for $3.49. Taco Bell is also adding a "Big Cheez-It Box" to menus for a limited time. Like other fast food chains, Taco Bell’s parent, Yum Brands, isn’t resistant to a slowdown in consumer spending, especially among lower-income diners. Shares of Yum Brands (YUM) have risen nearly 5% for the year.

One of Sweden's oldest burger chains wants its customers to stop eating so much red meat. Beef has the largest climate impact of any food, largely because cows burp methane and need vast amounts of land. Since then, Max Burgers has labeled menu items with their carbon footprints and started offering a lot more chicken and plant-based burgers. He added that because Max Burgers is family-owned, it can take more risks than publicly-traded fast food chains worried about their stock price. In 2016, the company quintupled its plant-based options, Török said, including a "green burger" that's been changed several times.

A recent study by the Asian American Foundation found that over half of Americans can’t name a single famous Asian American. The media needs to make a conscientious effort to seek out, identify and spotlight Asian Americans — and not just during AANHPI Heritage Month.

Sydney —China has lifted bans on imports from five major Australian beef processing facilities, the Australian government said on Thursday, in the latest sign of improving relations between the two nations. The bans applied to certain abattoirs but did not affect others, which meant Australia was still able to ship beef to China. China was Australia’s second-biggest beef export market last year, receiving 240,000 tons worth around $1.6 billion, Australian trade data shows. They said China’s trade impediments at their height impacted Australian exports worth 20.6 billion Australian dollars ($13.6 billion). The reasons China gave for suspending the Australian beef processors were issues over labeling or contamination or cases of COVID-19 among their workers.

Beef tissue from a sick dairy cow has tested positive for the bird flu virus, federal officials said on Friday. The department continued to stress that the commercial food supply remained safe. Hedge funds took a diversified approach to technology investing in the first quarter as the sector built on its 2024 rally. Both Appaloosa and Coatue trimmed stakes in Nvidia during the period, with the latter shrinking his stake by 68% to $1.25 billion. Stanley Druckenmiller told CNBC last month that he cut his Nvidia stake in late March and called AI a "little overhyped" in the short run.
