Breaking Dawn was one of two places that opened in the San Francisco Bay Area last spring emphasizing brunch. Asian American restaurants in other cities have also found that sweet and savory spot between breakfast and lunch. Jessica Nguyen, 28, who was finishing brunch at Breaking Dawn, says she’ll almost always choose Asian brunch over regular eggs or waffles. Within the last few decades, Asian and Asian American cuisine has become more popular through media and savvy foodies. She doesn’t see other restaurants with Asian brunch as rivals.

As a therapist who works with teenagers, I routinely hear from clients that their parents consistently criticize kids’ phone use but don’t curb their own use. Parents often tell me the same thing — their kids are glued to their phones and don’t listen when they try to engage them. And when parents feel rejected, they also turn their attention to their phones. I tell parents and kids alike that everyone needs to make changes in their technology habits to restore positive communication and trust. Keeping phones out of the bedroom is a common rule among parents of tweens and teens, yet this rule doesn’t often apply to the parents (guilty as charged).

Huawei spin off Honor had one of the most prominent booths at Mobile World Congress in February 2023. Honor announced its first artificial intelligence assistant on Friday, as it looks to jump ahead of companies like Apple and introduce software it hopes will spur users to buy its latest devices. Honor's digital assistant Yoyo has got an AI upgrade and will be coming to users in China in the near future, with international markets to follow, the company said. honor is calling it the Honor AI Agent. In one demonstration seen by CNBC ahead of the announcement, Honor showed how a user could ask Yoyo to find automatic subscriptions across WeChat and Alipay, the two most popular payment apps in China.

That continues a trend from 2023, when generative AI companies raised $25.9 billion for the full year, up more than 200% from 2022. The average round for AI companies is 140% bigger this year compared with last, the data shows, while for non-AI companies the increase is only 10%. Most venture investors are bullish on the potential for generative AI to eventually create big returns at the application layer. John-David Lovelock, an analyst at Gartner and a 35-year veteran of the IT industry, sees a big opportunity for generative AI in the enterprise. Yet, in 2024, only 1% of the trillion dollars spent on software will be from businesses spending on generative AI products, he said.
