WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - A shuttered South African airline sued Boeing Co (BA.N) for fraud over its agreement to buy eight 737 MAX planes and seeks damages of at least $83 million. The airline said Boeing refused to return $45.2 million in advance payments it made on seven MAX planes. Polish national airline PLL LOT sued Boeing in late 2021 in Seattle on similar grounds over 737 MAX purchases and the suit is pending. LOT in October asked a U.S. judge in Texas to declare it was a crime victim in the Boeing 737 MAX criminal case and said it has at least $250 million in damages. U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor ruled in October people killed in two Boeing 737 MAX crashes are legally "crime victims."

Estée Lauder tempered its outlook for the second half of its fiscal year. Estée Lauder Cos. reported declining sales for a third consecutive quarter as Covid-19 lockdowns in China and retailers tightening their inventories continued to weigh on its business. The New York-based cosmetics company, with brands from Clinique to M.A.C., on Thursday also tempered its outlook for the second half of its fiscal year amid a slower-than-expected rebound in travel-related retail sales.
There's a new reason to consider the Delta American Express cards — a 15% discount on award flights. The new "TakeOff 15" benefit is permanent, and applies to the personal and small-business versions of the Amex Delta Gold, Delta Platinum, and Delta Reserve cards. If you redeem Delta miles for Delta flights with any regularity, it might make sense to open a Delta card for this benefit. That's double the miles of the previous card bonus, which was 50,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after meeting minimum spending requirements. COMMENTARYAMBAREESH BALIGA, INDEPENDENT MARKET ANALYST, MUMBAI"The FPO did get subscribed, thanks to a few institutional as well as large family offices. DEEPAK JASANI, HEAD OF RETAIL RESEARCH, HDFC SECURITIES, MUMBAI"For Indian markets, one of the concern areas is out of the way for the time being as this was weighing on investor sentiment. Since the current market price is below the offer price, the retail subscription was low as investors can rather buy it from the market." That was their focus area considering the fact that there was a difference between the market price and the floor price of the FPO. It seems that retail investors did not consider the fact that there is more to rates than just the price."

After weeks without a winner, the Mega Millions jackpot is now $1.1 billion — the third largest in the lottery's 27-year history and the fifth-largest ever in the U.S. But depending on where you bought your ticket, those winnings can vary by as much as $120 million due to state taxes. State taxes are charged, too, but unlike federal taxes, they vary widely by state. The cash payout is much less than the annuity, but it's often chosen since it can be reinvested right away. The cash payout is nearly $63 million more in tax-free states than in New York, the most-taxed state.

The Mega Millions jackpot is now at $785 million, its fourth-highest total ever. If you're lucky enough to win the Mega Millions jackpot, your ticket will have to be cashed in the state where it was purchased. You can choose between two payout options: A lump sum worth about 50% of the total winnings or an annuity of the full amount paid out over 30 years. That amount can be further reduced by state taxes on lottery winnings, which vary from nothing at all in states like California to 10.9% in New York, which charges the most of any state. Below is the total after-tax winnings you'd take home based on a jackpot of $785 million, listed alphabetically by state or district, per usamega.com.

BOGOTA, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Colombia's majority state-owned oil company Ecopetrol will invest up to around 30 trillion pesos ($6.2 billion) in 2023, it said on Friday, with the main focus on energy security rather than energy transition. Third-quarter net profits more than doubled to 9.51 trillion pesos, Ecopetrol reported last month. Ecopetrol plans to invest between 25.3 trillion pesos and 29.8 trillion pesos. Of that, between 15.8 trillion pesos and 18.9 trillion pesos will ensure Columbia's energy security and financial stability and boost the country's trade balance, it said. Other investments include some 3.6 trillion pesos to 4.1 trillion pesos will go towards ensuring Colombia's self-sufficiency in gas, while 5.9 trillion pesos to 6.8 trillion pesos will fund the company's energy transition, it said.
London-listed retailers Frasers Group and Next are two clothing retailers that will "dominate" the sector during a recession, according to a veteran Schroders fund manager. Andrew Brough, who runs the Schroder UK Mid Cap Fund, said the two conservatively run companies are well placed to expand and take market share during a downturn through acquisitions. Shares of Frasers Group have risen by 30.6% over the past year, outperforming the FTSE 350 general retailers index, which has fallen by 29.3% over the same period. Frasers Group is Brough's largest holding, making up 6.7% of his fund. Brough, who's run his fund for 23 years, said he was more optimistic than others about the U.K.'s economy over the near term.

Dec 2 (Reuters) - Mpox is expected to no longer be considered a public health emergency in the United States from Feb. 1, 2023, the U.S. health department said on Friday. The months-long declaration was meant to tackle the largest-ever outbreak of cases in the country. The WHO label, a "public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC)", is designed to trigger a coordinated international response and could unlock funding to collaborate on sharing vaccines and treatments. The disease, which is endemic in parts of Africa, began spreading in Europe earlier this year before moving to the United States. More than 29,000 cases have been reported in the United States in the outbreak this year, including two deaths, according to government data.

Nov 29 (Reuters) - Yahoo plans to add retail stock trading and enter new commerce and transaction businesses such as sports betting in a move to boost its revenue, news website Axios reported on Tuesday citing an unnamed company source. The owner of websites such as Yahoo Finance, Yahoo Sports and TechCrunch generates around $8 billion in revenue annually, the report said. Private equity firm Apollo Global Management, which owns Yahoo following a $5 billion buyout last year, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The report comes a day after Yahoo said it will buy nearly 25% of Taboola.com Ltd (TBLA.O) and become its largest shareholder, allowing the online advertising company to exhibit paid content on the web portal's many sites.
