CNN —Two telescopes have spotted the closest pair of supermassive black holes to date. Active galactic nuclei are supermassive black holes that release bright jets of material and high winds that can shape the very galaxies where they are found. Astronomers discovered these black holes dancing around one another at the center of a pair of colliding galaxies called MCG-03-34-64, which is 800 million light-years away. Astronomers serendipitously found the black holes when Hubble’s observations revealed three spikes of bright light within the glowing gas of a galaxy. Both supermassive black holes once served as the centers of their respective galaxies, but a galactic merger brought the two objects much closer together.

That's why business sectors are looking for new ways to recycle water, especially in the face of increased drought. The global water and wastewater treatment market is expected to reach half a trillion dollars by the end of this decade, according to Statista. "Other technologies can recover maybe 50 to 60% of water, but we can recover 99% of water," Govindan said. It claims to save 1.7 billion gallons of water daily, or the amount consumed by 48 million people.

It followed tens of thousands of complaints from Care.com customers, including many who thought they canceled memberships but were billed again. The FTC said Care.com enticed customers to buy auto-renewing memberships by overstating the number of jobs, or "gigs," on its platform and how much people could earn from them. It said Care.com knew or should have known a significant number of the jobs were unlikely to result in employment. About 2.9 million U.S. consumers bought Care.com auto-renewing memberships between January 2019 and March 2022. "Care.com used inflated job numbers and baseless earnings claims to lure caregivers onto its platform, and used deceptive design practices to trap consumers in subscriptions," FTC consumer protection chief Samuel Levine said.
