Social media users have claimed that because stars are not routinely visible in photographs taken from spacecraft, space itself is a hoax. One clip that circulated online showed images taken from the Artemis I Orion shuttle with no stars visible. However, the daytime sky on Earth is only blue due to “scattering of light in the Earth’s atmosphere,” Smethurst said. In the case of the Artemis I mission, the settings would be adjusted to focus on the Earth, Moon and the spacecraft itself. This can be tested at home, McCarthy told Reuters, by trying to take a photo of a full moon and stars at the same time.

‘Violent Night’ Review: Santa’s Merry Massacre
  + stars: | 2022-12-02 | by ( Kyle Smith | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +1 min
In the gleefully crass comedy “Violent Night,” Santa is real, but also really naughty. “Violent Night” might as well be called “John McClaus.”Combining “Bad Santa” with “Die Hard”—tra-la-la-la-la meets yippee-ki-yay—is such a knockout idea that it’s a shame “Violent Night” isn’t better. “Bad Santa” (2003) might be the funniest Christmas movie of all time, and “Die Hard” (1988) is one of the few ’80s action flicks that people still talk about. There are many smart comic ideas in “Violent Night,” but they are scattered unevenly throughout, the villains are dull, and most of the imaginative energy goes into devising spectacularly gory murders involving the distressingly off-label use of Christmas paraphernalia. The unabashedly tasteless midnight movies of the ’70s and ’80s that inspired this one understood the value of keeping things tight.

The macroeconomic environment is also not one that really favours aggressive investment at this point in time," Jaideep Khanna, who heads Barclays' Asia Pacific business told Reuters in an interview. THE FIRST TIME I had caviar with potato chips, it was at Air’s Champagne Parlor, shortly after the Greenwich Village wine bar opened in 2017. A mere half-ounce of caviar dressed up thin potato chips dipped in crème fraîche. I’d always regarded caviar as expensive, decadent, and here I was scooping it with the housemade equivalent of Pringles. That high-low juxtaposition was intended to make caviar “approachable and not scary,” recalled Air’s proprietor, Ariel Arce. During the pandemic, Ms. Arce went on to launch a caviar company of her own, CaviAIR, aiming to bring the “cool factor to fish eggs.”
If anyone still needs convincing that electric cars need not be boring appliances, the Battista is a convincing, if costly, argument. Electric power promises more acceleration and power without tailpipe emissions and, for better or worse, without the cacophony of a V12. But Lamborghini’s current CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has said that a proper electric supercar isn’t possible with today’s technology. The Pininfarina Battista puts his skepticism to the test, but, I fear, Winkelmann may just be right. One Instagram user (here) shared a TikTok video which tries to challenge the fact that that Gleason’s map is a projection of the earth as a globe. Gleason argued that the earth is flat in his 1890 book “Is the Bible from Heaven? ALL 2D MAPS DISTORT EARTHAs Gleason’s map is centered on the north pole, the edges indicate the south pole. “A projection of a person on a page is also flat (see Jeff Brown’s ‘Flat Stanley’ character), but people aren’t flat,” Bennett said. Gleason’s map is a depiction of the earth as a globe in a north-polar azimuthal equidistant projection and is not proof that the earth is flat.

“When things really begin to change is when the social culture changes,” Biden said. By 1995, a tenth of the 1.6 million gay men ages 25 to 44 had died. Socialization among gay men and gay-centric networks, particularly in gay neighborhoods, has myriad political and social benefits. “For a lot of gay men from a certain generation, that was really hard to do without alcohol,” he said. In the same interview, DeGeneres thanked Jordan for coming on her show.

She was one of the few White House aides who broke with the former president and told him he lost the 2020 election. Hope Hicks was the youngest White House communications director in history. In her time at the White House, Hicks became ensnared in two high-profile White House controversies: the special counsel's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and her role in crafting the White House's response to abuse allegations against staff secretary Rob Porter. She later rejoined the Trump White House as a counselor to the president, reporting to senior adviser and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

At the Greenwich Economic Forum on Tuesday, big investors said they expected a downturn. Many big investors anticipate a lighter recession than in the past as the Fed hikes interest rates. And while it's held in the hedge fund capital of the world, private credit dominated discussions. Some investors, like Lawrence Golub, chief executive of $55 billion credit asset manager Golub Capital, expect a period of low growth but no severe recession. It's going to be one where there's some economic growth in various parts of high-end consumer, or other areas," he said.
Cathie Wood says innovation will scale from $7 trillion in market cap to $210 trillion by 2030. Wood believes algorithms that are focused on variables such as cash burn and cash cushion, are dominating the stock market. Wood estimated that the autonomous mobility industry will scale to $9 trillion - $10 trillion in revenue by 2030. However, most investors and portfolio managers are truly short on innovation stocks unless they're highly involved with the private markets, she added. "And so if you're short innovation, you're going to be missing some of these unbelievable opportunities."
Ray Dalio says we will be searching for a true store hold of wealth for the next 10 years. On Tuesday, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio took the stage during the Greenwich Economic Forum to discuss the state of the global economy. Central to his discussion was the belief that the Federal Reserve will need to navigate between inflation and a weak economy going forward. But the magnitude of the current economic crisis is not something we're used to, he noted. What is the true store hold of wealth will be the question of our time, Dalio said.
The US faces a "perfect storm" of debt, political strife, and an overseas war, Ray Dalio said. Dalio warned the Fed will have to hurt markets and the economy to conquer stubborn inflation. Dalio complained that "ridiculously stupid" interest rates and a flood of cheap money have inflated US asset prices and overstimulated the economy in recent years. "They will raise interest rates to the point that there's enough economic pain and financial market pain to deal with that," he said. Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, recently stepped down as the hedge fund's co-chief investor, and now serves as a mentor to its bosses.
