DuPont's water and protection segment may have seen a year-over-year decline in sales, but what matters most is that revenue was up 8% sequentially. Notably, DuPont's Water Solutions and Tyvek medical packaging businesses in China — an economy that's lately been a thorn in the side of so many companies — helped drive the quarter-over-quarter expansion. While there's been speculation that DuPont's water business is attracting interest from peers, management said the company has not had conversations about an outright sale. The range for operating EBITDA was raised to $3.06 billion to $3.11 billion, up from $2.9 billion to $3.05 billion previously. DuPont's third-quarter guidance of roughly $3.2 billion in sales, $815 million in operating EBITDA and adjusted EPS of $1.03 essentially matched expectations.

Graham was one of an "array of senators, donors, conservative media personalities and other supporters" who tried to get Trump to choose someone other than Vance, according to the Post. Graham has since publicly defended Vance, including during an appearance on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday. Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche said Monday it is accelerating the development of its Wegovy rival weight loss drugs following promising early stage trial data. However, in an FT interview published earlier Monday, CEO Thomas Schinecker indicated that the firm's first obesity drug could come to market "significantly faster than people are expecting," potentially by 2028. Both CT-388 and CT-996 were acquired as part of Roche's purchase of U.S. biotech company Carmot Therapeutics, which completed in January. The promising results could see Roche emerge as a potential rival to obesity drug pioneers Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly. Schinecker told CNBC last week that he expects the company to eventually offer a suite of obesity medications.

It could also have a major impact on House and Senate races. We talked by email about the state of play for the House and Senate and how the shake-up in the presidential race might change things. PATHE: House races are typically more nationalized than Senate races because the candidates are lesser known; therefore, it’s harder for them to separate themselves from their party and the top of the ticket. Tim Graham | Getty ImagesIndia "clearly has a problem" figuring out new drivers for its economic growth even as its economy expands at a fast pace, JPMorgan's Jahangir Aziz said, following the country's union budget. "If you look at India over the last two years post the pandemic, recorded growth has been strong. But if you look at the drivers of growth, it's essentially these two: Public infrastructure and services export," Aziz, chief emerging markets economist at JPM, told CNBC's "Street Signs Asia" on Tuesday. According to estimates by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India's services exports will likely hit $30.3 billion in June, compared with $27.8 billion in the same month last year. According to the International Monetary Fund's latest World Economic Outlook, the country's growth is predicted to decline to 6.5% in 2025.

Recent polling suggests nearly 9 in 10 Americans believe Mr. Biden’s decision to step aside was the right one. 65 called Mr. Biden’s withdrawal a coup or said it amounted to election interference. These statements have tended to argue that Mr. Biden’s decision to end his candidacy was not his own, was not democratic or both. Some of this language began to bubble up among Republicans even before Mr. Biden announced that he would drop out. One common line of attack, positing that Ms. Harris failed as a “border czar,” is misleading.

CNN —New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon expressed regret on Wednesday after a public enquiry found some 200,000 children, young people and vulnerable adults were abused in state and religious care over the last 70 years. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon speaks during the release of The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care report on July 24, 2024 in Wellington, New Zealand. Hagen Hopkins/Getty ImagesThe report by Royal Commission of Inquiry spoke to over 2,300 survivors of abuse in New Zealand, which has a population of 5.3 million. The inquiry detailed a litany of abuses in state and faith-based care, including rape, sterilisation and electric shocks, which peaked in the 1970s. Those from the Indigenous Maori community were especially vulnerable to abuse, the report found, as well as those with mental or physical disabilities.

President-elect John F. Kennedy was there for dinner the night before his inauguration. “It was a special place to grow up,” said Donald Graham, a former publisher of The Washington Post, remembering his childhood home. After she died in 2001 her estate sold the home to Mark Ein, a venture capitalist and philanthropist who owns Washington City Paper and has a stake in the city’s N.F.L. Lucas Oil Stadium, the vast brick home to the Indianapolis Colts, is space custom-built for commotion and cacophony. On Wednesday night, the seats were mostly filled, families having shuffled into rows balancing paper trays of chicken fingers and pizza. But at 7 p.m., the lights went down, and the crowd sat poised in stillness and silence. Then a voice on the loudspeaker instructed them to kneel, a spotlight beamed to a corner of the floor. At that instant, Camille Anigbogu, 22, from Houston, recalled later, “I profoundly knew that it was God.”

A fire that broke out Friday at the First Baptist Dallas church, a landmark in the city’s downtown, appeared to cause major damage to an old part of the church complex. The church’s pastor, the Rev. Robert Jeffress, said that he understood from his conversations with fire officials that in the fire’s final phase, the roof of what is known as the historic sanctuary had collapsed. “We will have to see about whether we try to recreate it or do something else,” he said in an interview. Dallas Fire-Rescue did not immediately provide information about the fire, but a spokesman told The Dallas Morning news that part of the structure had collapsed.

However, not all residents of Forks' roughly 3,400-strong population are happy about the attention their hometown is getting, with some locals hitting out at "vampire tourism," The Times of London reported. "I work at the local school — which the Twilight characters 'went to' — and they'd be out there, crying about how much they loved this vampire guy." At the height of the "Twilight" hysteria, Forks wasted no time in embracing its new fame, with new "Twilight" tours showing off famous locations from the films. One after another, for four days, the testimonies for Donald J. Trump poured out. “God spared his life,” Franklin Graham, the evangelist, proclaimed. “Divine intervention” saved his father from the assassin’s bullet, Eric Trump said. Ben Carson, the former secretary of housing and urban development, said that when he saw his friend “escape death by mere inches” his thoughts “immediately turned to the book of Isaiah, which says, ‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper.’”And Mr. Trump himself said at the Republican National Convention, “I felt very safe because I had God on my side.”As many in the audience nodded and cried in the darkness, the message was unmistakable. Even as his speech was criticized by many for its divisive tone and length, for these believers, Mr. Trump appears supernaturally anointed, an embodiment of God’s blessing.

The recent run-up in home prices, a staggering increase of more than 40% from pre-pandemic levels, should have current homeowners rushing to refinance. But for most, pulling that cash out simply costs too much now that interest rates are more than twice what they were just two years ago. Applications to refinance a home dropped last week for the fourth straight week, down 2%, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association's seasonally adjusted index. Homeowners were sitting on a collective $17 trillion in equity at the end of the first quarter of 2024, according to CoreLogic. Mortgage rates haven't moved at all so far this week, despite Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's testimony before Congress on Tuesday.

Lover's eyes became particularly popular in the late 18th century.
