White suspects Cannon may be imagining what she might be able to get out of a second Trump presidency. "You have a situation where it is not even remotely difficult to imagine: Her acquitting Trump, Trump getting elected, Trump elevating her to the 11th Circuit or the Supreme Court. BALASORE, India, June 3 (Reuters) - Ompal Bhatia, a survivor of the three-train crash in India on Friday, had first thought he was dead. When the train he was traveling in went off-track, Bhatia was with three friends on his way to Chennai for work. The 25-year-old had spent most of the four-hour journey on the Coromandel Express standing. The train, traveling past hills along India’s eastern coast, takes more than 24 hours to complete the journey of more than 1600 kilometres. Archana Paul, a housewife from West Bengal, was in the other train, the Howrah Yesvantpur Express, when the crash happened.

Financial experts say there are eight things worth every penny that you shouldn't stop spending on. If you're starting to plan what items you should cut back on, take a look at what these financial experts say are worth every penny — even during a recession. If you're struggling to afford your internet or phone service during a recession, Lalonde recommends calling your current provider and asking for discounts or looking for lower-cost options with other providers out there. To prepare for a looming recession, Lalonde recommends making sure your coverage is up-to-date and researching if there are any government or community programs that can assist you with the cost of healthcare costs. If you're prioritizing what to cut back on, Nelson recommends cutting spending elsewhere to ensure debts are being paid off first.

Guralnik is the star of the Showtime documentary series "Couples Therapy," in which she analyzes real patients in a room with hidden cameras. While financial issues can spark intense conflict for couples, Guralnik doesn't believe money, or the lack of it, is the real reason they split up. "If you're refusing to look at your bank account when you're pulling out your credit card, you can accrue debt," Guralnik said. People are "shielding themselves from knowing reality" when they refuse to pay attention to their finances, Guralnik said. The Roy children’s individual ambitions are sometimes risible, but we’re never asked to question why they would be ambitious in the first place. What’s not acceptable, within the moral logic of the show, is the ambition of those characters who were not born into money and power but want to achieve them. In an episode midway through the final season, Tom admits to Shiv that he cares about these things. I do.” He tells her, “If you think that’s shallow, why don’t you throw out all of your stuff for love? “You’re a hick,” she says, “your whole family is striving and parochial.” Striving — that’s the biggest insult of them all.
Dr. S was not a boring person, and I didn’t think I was, either, so the boredom provoked our mutual suspicion. Dr. S knew better than to pressure me to stay, but she did not fulfill my fantasy of a reparative final session. I’d been afraid of disappointing Dr. S — and then I did. Leaving Dr. S made it possible to imagine going back — both humbled and emboldened by our mutual capacity to abide the separation. I was gone only for a little more than a year, and when I went back to Dr. S, we saw each other once a week.

Priyanka Jain works in communications at Arup, a British design firm with flexible work options. Before moving around her work schedule, her side hustle felt like an "afterthought." Knowing Arup was flexible with work in that way, I decided to pitch the idea of a different work schedule to my boss. I felt like I had all this creativity, all these ideas for my business, but I couldn't juggle it with my work schedule at the time. Because I've seen flexible work done well, I would think twice if there was a company that had a very rigid structure.
At the age of 17, Emily launched a neighborhood book drive in honor of her dad, Mike Bhatnagar. Her initial goal was to collect books for children undergoing cancer treatment, but she’s expanded it to all patients under 18. The neighborhood book drive that began with a lone teen in a cloud of despair over her dad’s illness has grown into a nationwide initiative. “We are grateful to have been chosen by Emily … Hospitals are a scary place for kids, and the books will help enhance the healing environment.”Whenever possible, Emily specifies the books go to hospitals with pediatric cancer units. Her not-so-little book drive is teaching her how to run a nonprofit and build relationships with community leaders.

If you’re thinking of bequeathing a bottle from the year a loved one was born, investigate what sort of vintage it was before you invest. Illustration: Nick LuHAVE YOU EVER tasted a wine made the year you were born? Some people will buy a wine for that reason alone. Purchasing “birth-year” wines for loved ones has long been a tradition among oenophiles. But I wonder if it is (still) a good idea, or a relic of an earlier era when wines weren’t styled to be consumed right away, as most are today.

This week, a reader's husband doesn't think the cost of a gym membership is a good use of money. The main extra we are fighting about right now is a gym membership. This shared responsibility often means shared debt, shared costs, shared sacrifice, and shared indulgences. But what shared finances don't necessitate are shared financial priorities — even if it might be easier when they align. Your husband's part of this compromise will mean making the commitment now to celebrate your last credit card payment by purchasing a gym membership for you at a nicer gym.
