Floodwaters from Hurricane Helene trapped workers at an eastern Tennessee plastics factory, with several family members learning Monday that their loved ones didn't survive. Slowly, their postings were updated to say that their loved ones, several of them Latino, had died. ASHEVILLE, N.C. —A historic village in western North Carolina is under water after bearing the brunt of devastating flooding damage from Hurricane Helene. Tree branches, logs and a dumpster floated across Asheville’s Biltmore Village, renowned for being built and owned by a single individual. A tree had fallen on Hazel Mill Road, blocking all travel along a central route to West Asheville during Tropical Storm Helene.
