Singapore Airlines has ended a controversial policy that forced pregnant flight attendants to leave. Previously, pregnant cabin crew were put on no-pay leave but can now apply for a ground role. The airline changed the rules in July, according to a memo seen by The Straits Times. Under the policy, when a flight attendant informed the airline she was pregnant, she'd be placed on leave without pay. Over recent years, some airlines have come under pressure for the strict rules they have put in place for female flight attendants.

Citing strong demand and relaxed border restrictions, both airlines announced more flights between Singapore and Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. This month, it will start flying from Singapore to Lombok and Makassar, Indonesia. Singapore Airlines launched services to Beijing in September; this month, it will start flying to Chengdu, with a second weekly flight going to Shenzhen. Scoot is already flying into four Chinese cities, with flights to Wuhan and Zhengzhou starting this week.

Aviation services group SATS (SATS.SI) is acquiring the world’s largest air cargo logistics provider for $2.2 billion from U.S. buyout firm Cerberus. The deal could ultimately lift trade flows through Singapore where aviation contributes more than 5% of GDP. SATS is part of the city-state’s industry trinity that includes its former parent Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) and Changi Airport. As global cargo activity nears pre-pandemic levels, Singapore is providing a strategic home to an asset that’s passed through multiple financial owners.

F-16s were scrambled after a bomb threat was made on board a flight from San Francisco to Singapore. The incident occurred aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ33, which departed for its 16-hour journey from the San Francisco International Airport on Monday at 10.05 p.m. Pacific Time. Flight tracking site FlightRadar24 mapped the loops that Singapore Airlines flight SQ33 took after a false bomb threat was made on board the plane. Singapore's defense ministry confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that there had been a bomb threat aboard the flight.
