In an effort to navigate a market that remains highly concentrated under Big Tech's dominance, but also ripe for stock pickers, Barclays has dozens of stocks that share similar characteristics to the tech heavyweights. However, some select Big Tech remained fairly strong throughout the sell-off, with stocks like Alphabet and Apple bucking the downtrend. While Big Tech valuations still appear reasonable to Barclays analyst Venu Krishna, he pointed out that they're "not the only game in town," and suggested investors diversify their portfolios to beat their benchmarks. Yet, market returns, earnings upside, and institutional investor exposure remain highly concentrated in Big Tech," Krishna said in a Tuesday note. Aside from allowing investors to diversify, these stocks come with strong fundamentals based on profitability, balance sheet strength, cash conversion, and growth-adjusted valuation characteristics that closely resemble those of Big Tech stocks, the firm said.

All eyes remain on tech stocks this week, with Amazon and Apple due to release their earnings after the market closes on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. After a strong rally to start the year, tech stocks have wavered in recent weeks as investor concerns of lofty valuations bubbled to the surface. The recent gold rally is counterintuitive, as high interest rates typically make bullion less attractive. But billionaire investor David Einhorn has a theory that he shared in his latest investor letter. Einhorn suggests that gold's rally is potentially due to countries in the East buying gold from Western nations. To explain the strong run for gold, billionaire investor David Einhorn offered a potential theory in his latest letter to investors published this week. Others, like billionaire investor Ray Dalio, say gold can hedge risks stemming from high government debt levels.

The bond market's famous recession gauge has been flashing for 18 months. A downturn could be delayed for months after the yield curve first inverts, Paul Dietrich said. Dietrich pointed to the inverted Treasury yield curve, a highly accurate recession gauge that flashes when the yield on the 2-year US Treasury surpasses the 10-year Treasury. In the past, recessions have taken up to 28 months to officially start after being signaled by the yield curve and leading economic indicators, he noted. Dietrich is among the more bearish forecasters on Wall Street, having warned investors of an impending recession for months.

Amgen has been in pullback mode since the beginning of February, losing roughly 13% within the context of its long-term uptrend. For those interested in "buying the dip," this may be a good time to revisit the stock, noting the decline looks overdone in the short term. There has been a positive reaction from AMGN to a short-term counter-trend "buy" signal from Tom DeMARK's TD Combo model, which supports a minimum two-week bounce. With Friday's reversal bar on AMGN's daily chart, combined with today's strength, our preferred momentum indicator the daily MACD is back on a "buy" signal. The MACD also shows a positive short-term divergence, supporting a bigger relief rally for AMGN in the near term.

The crush of people at the rally was suffocating, although in India a crowd is no index of popularity. Then, on the heels of several corruption scandals, the mighty party — 140 years old next year — came unstuck. One of Modi’s successes has been not just to trounce the Congress Party but also to persuade people that the party has weakened India and emasculated its Hindus.
