Back then, Israel defeated the armies of three Arab states — Egypt, Syria and Jordan — in what became known as the Six-Day War. Today, if you look closely, you’ll see that Israel is now fighting the Six-Front War. But one thing is crystal clear to me: Israel cannot win this six-front war alone. This is the first Israeli government ever to make annexation of the West Bank a stated objective in its coalition agreement. Be advised: If Israel does invade Gaza, corporations everywhere will be facing competing demands from employees to denounce Israel or Hamas.

☆ Algerian Football Federation suspends upcoming matches in ‘solidarity’ with Palestinians

CNN —The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has suspended all its soccer matches amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group, Hamas. The FAF announced on Wednesday the suspensions were a way of showing “solidarity” with Palestinians. The declaration comes just days after the FAF offered to host all of the Palestinian national team’s upcoming international fixtures following the escalation of the decades-old conflict. The FAF said it will be hosting the Palestinian national team’s next home game, a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Australia scheduled for November 21. It comes amid Israel’s ongoing siege of Gaza, which has led to the deaths of over 3,500 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

CHICAGO (AP) — After a stopover in the U.S. that lasted the better part of a century, a baroque landscape painting that went missing during World War II was returned to Germany on Thursday. Art Recovery International, a company focused on locating and recovering stolen and looted art, tracked down the elusive painting after a person in Chicago reached out last year claiming to possess a “stolen or looted painting” that their uncle brought back to the U.S. after serving in World War II. The painting has been missing since 1945 and was first reported stolen from the Bavarian State Painting Collections in Munich, Germany. It was added to the database of the German Lost Art Foundation in 2012, according to a statement from the art recovery company. “The crux of our work at Art Recovery International is the research and restitution of artworks looted by Nazis and discovered in public or private collections.

After that rocket failed and fell on the Palestinian hospital in Gaza, killing scores of people, Hamas and the P.I.J. (Netanyahu’s coalition agreement actually vows to annex the whole of the West Bank.) I am well aware that Hamas has been committed to eliminating the Jewish state since its inception — not because Israel has expanded settlements in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority, which is ready to coexist with the Jewish state, needs to be able to actually win a free and fair election against Hamas in the West Bank or Gaza. So no, we’re not telling Netanyahu what to do in Gaza — Israel is a sovereign country.

Ethiopian authorities said in August that China was allowing Ethiopia to suspend debt payments for the fiscal year running until July 7, 2024. "The Chinese authorities have already provided debt relief to Ethiopia and we understand that they're in the process of requesting a similar treatment from other creditors. "There is a debt service suspension with China, which is providing substantial relief," she said, adding that this was the agreement announced in August. Ethiopia regularly suffers from foreign exchange shortages and a wide gap between the official and black market currency exchange rates.
