Some women wanting to get fit are turning to VR headsets, one firm told The Washington Post. VR headsets have received mixed reviews from consumers amid "underwhelming" sales for some devices. Back then, VR headsets were mainly marketed to young men, but some women in their mid-thirties and older are now taking an interest in the gaming headsets, Cole told The Washington Post. In March, Meta announced it was slashing the price of its VR headsets after "underwhelming" sales. Influencer Clarke Peoples, who's known for lifestyle and beauty content, shared her own VR workout recommendations to her nearly 500,000 followers in August.

More stocks left behind in the recent rally are starting to catch up to their peers. The S & P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite have reached their highest levels since April 2022, but that rally has mainly benefited tech stocks. Now, however, more stocks are starting to participate in the rally, including names that took a huge beating last year after the rise in interest rates dented their prospects. The online used car retailer skyrocketed 81% in June through Wednesday, and is higher by almost 400% this year. However, that's changing, with Peloton jumping 11% this year, though the stock remains 45% off its 52-week highs.

Make Way for the Bike Bus
  + stars: | 2023-06-06 | by ( John Surico | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
On a recent Wednesday morning in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, parents and children met up in McCarren Park with all manner of wheels: electric cargo bikes, scooters, tricycles, classic cruisers. Along the way, other families, tracking the group’s location, joined the slow-moving peloton, also known as the “bike bus.”The bike bus is an increasingly popular way to get to school. Gradually, it made its way stateside and to the Metropolitan area. Some fans have nicknamed the movement “kidical mass,” a play on a cycling event where groups spontaneously take over the streets. When Drury Thorp, a teacher at Watchung Elementary School in Montclair, N.J., read an article about a “bike bus” in Portland, Ore., she reached out to a local cycling group, and they charted a route.

When Kent He decided to invest in short-term rentals, he started looking at data. To find a market to invest in, he looked at rental demand using AirDNA. It took about six months from the time he started looking at markets to when he closed on his first property. In this particular example, the rental demand score is 81. In 2021, when he first started looking at markets, "the demand was right around 66 to 68," he noted.
The ad solidified Peloton's nascent identity as a high-end bike company reserved for a certain type of person at a certain income level. "This company historically has been thought of as an in-home bike company for fitness enthusiasts but over the years, it has evolved into something that is much more bigger, much broader than that." The relaunch includes a "Gym" function that allows users to take Peloton's app into the gym with them and create custom workouts. 2 among those who have Peloton hardware. It shows how eager users are to consume Peloton content that has nothing to do with its equipment.
May 18 (Reuters) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday approved a repair for a rear guard of Peloton Interactive Inc's (PTON.O) recalled 'Tread+' treadmill. "The approved rear guard repair eliminates the potential for entrapment near the rear roller of the treadmill," the safety regulator said in a statement. "The rear guard repair features a breakaway design that pivots away from the treadmill when it comes into contact with a person or object, shutting off power to the unit and decelerating the belt." To date, in addition to the reported death, Peloton has received a total of 351 incident reports of pull-unders, including 90 reports of injuries to consumers, according to the CPSC. Peloton will offer the guard free of charge to all members who own a 'Tread+', the virtual workout company said in a statement on its website.
Maggie Lu uses a Peloton Tread treadmill during CES 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 11, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Peloton said Thursday that it would release a rear safety guard for its Tread+ treadmill, working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Tread+ treadmill has been at the heart of safety concerns surrounding Peloton in recent years. Sales for the treadmill have been halted since a young child died under a Tread+ treadmill in 2021. The safety guard will be offered free of charge to people who own a Tread+ treadmill, the company said in a release.
Peloton shares tumbled Thursday after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said it is recalling 2.2 million of the company's bikes over injury and fall concerns. The seat post on Model Number PL01 bikes can detach and break unexpectedly during use, according to Peloton and the CPSC. There were 12 reported injuries, including one wrist fracture, related to the part defect, according to an internal Peloton memo. "For Peloton, it was important to proactively engage the CPSC to address this issue and to work swiftly and cooperatively to identify a remedy." The news comes a week after the company reported a wider-than-expected loss for its fiscal third quarter.
The entertainment giant also reported revenue and earnings in line with Wall Street's estimates, according to Refinitiv. AppLovin — Shares popped 23.53% following the company's first-quarter revenue beat. Unity Software's revenue of $500 million beat the $480 million expected from analysts polled by Refinitiv. Tapestry — Shares of the Coach parent jumped 8.27% after the company reported stronger-than-expected earnings and revenue for its latest quarter. Its first-quarter revenue came in at $441 million, versus analyst estimates of $425 million, according to Refinitiv.
Peloton is recalling more than 2.1 million of its original bike products, the company announced. The seat posts of dozens of these bikes suddenly broke, causing injuries, per the company. This recall does not impact Peloton Bike+ Members nor Peloton original Bike owners in the UK, Germany, and Australia, according to the company. The company is offering free, updated seat posts to all US Peloton original Bike owners, which can be installed at home, according to Peloton. Do you work for Peloton or own Peloton's original bike?
May 10 (Reuters) - Favourite Remco Evenepoel crashed twice on stage five of the Giro d'Italia on Wednesday, the first time after a dog strayed on to the road in treacherous conditions caused by driving rain, before Kaden Groves won the stage in a bunch sprint. The second crash did not affect Evenepoel's time as it happened inside the three-km mark, effectively neutralising the general classification times. But the crash left the Belgian world champion fuming while the rest of the bunch surged ahead and Alpecin–Deceuninck's Groves dominated the sprint to win the stage. The breakaway trio of Thomas Champion, Samuele Zoccarato and Stefano Gandin had built up a head of steam before they were absorbed by the peloton with seven km to go. Just super bad luck, with the second crash," he said.
With the update, the look and feel of Google Search results will be noticeably different. Users can now sign up for a waitlist for the new Google Search, which will first launch in the United States, via the Google app or Chrome’s desktop browser. The new Google Search also offers a Perspectives feature to showcase what other people are buying or thinking about, and factoring that into results. Like ChatGPT, the new Google Search and Bard are built on a large language model. Google previously told CNN that Bard would serve as a separate, complementary experience to Google Search, and planned to “thoughtfully” add large language models to search “in a deeper way” at a later time.
