Vice President Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Gov. London CNN —Far-right riots swept Britain over the weekend, with outbreaks of anti-immigrant violence in a number of cities and towns, leaving the new UK government scrambling to control the worst disorder in more than a decade. Throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, violent protesters congregated in city and town centers across the UK, many of them apparently intent on clashing with police and causing havoc. The gatherings ostensibly started as anti-immigration marches, organized on social media platforms like X and on WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Violence also took place in Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Stoke-on-Trent and several more cities, mostly across the Midlands and north of England. A line of EVs wait to charge at Electrify America chargers in East Brunswick, New Jersey, on July 6. At 10 of the busiest EV fast charging stations in California, Electrify America has enacted a strict limit. There can also be other legitimate reasons a driver may want to charge to 100% at a fast charger, said Barrosa. To the Editor:Re “The Election Is Crucial to the Future of the Supreme Court,” by Erwin Chemerinsky (Opinion guest essay, July 31):Regarding this essay supporting President Biden’s effort to reform the Supreme Court, as well as the current Democratic push in this same direction, does anyone seriously believe that this would be an issue at all if the Democrats were satisfied with the Supreme Court decisions? The only reason it is an issue is that they don’t like the recent results from that court, and that is the very reason that Supreme Court reform is a bad idea: It is 100 percent politically motivated. The movement would have a lot more credibility if it wasn’t arising immediately on the heels of recent Supreme Court decisions that the Democrats don’t like, such as expanding the scope of presidential immunity, overturning the Chevron doctrine and especially overturning Roe v.
