Hope Hicks, who served as a top adviser to former President Donald Trump, told an aide to Ivanka Trump that “we all look like domestic terrorists now” as the Capitol riot unfolded on Jan. 6, 2021. In texts released by the House Jan. 6 committee, Hicks expressed concerns about the consequences of Trump’s actions to Julie Radford, who was then Ivanka Trump’s chief of staff. She departed the White House several days after the Jan. 6 insurrection after serving as a counselor to the president. She previously served as White House communications director as well as director of strategic communications. Before joining the Trump White House, Hicks worked for Trump’s presidential campaign, the Trump Organization and Ivanka Trump’s fashion brand.
Donald Trump requested that Jared Kushner try to trademark "Rigged Election!" The email was titled "POTUS requests," per the transcript, which Kushner said "most likely" conveyed a direct request from Trump. Two phrases were included in bold, including exclamation marks, which were "Rigged Election!" Kushner told the panel that he couldn't recall Trump's intended purpose of using the phrase "Rigged Election," adding that his role was "operational" and involved forwarding requests to the right people, the transcript shows. After losing to Biden in November 2020, Trump tweeted it was a "RIGGED ELECTION."
Jared Kushner denied Biden's team access to COVID-19 plans in late 2020, a former aide said. Kushner said Biden's team should "absolutely not" be looped in, claimed Alyssa Farah Griffin. "Jared just said, 'Absolutely not,'" Farah Griffin told the panel. Biden officials complained at the time that the Trump administration was refusing them access to COVID-19 data in the weeks after the election. In the same speech, Biden pressed the Trump administration to provide more details about the allocation of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Trump official Ken Cuccinelli claims to not remember Donald Trump calling the 2020 election "rigged." "I am not prepared to validate that word," Cuccinelli told investigators, according to testimony released Friday. And "Rigged Election Hoax!" "Is it fair to say," an investigator asked, "that seeds of distrust were sown with respect to the 2020 election — after the November 2020 election?" In May 2020, for example, he asserted that the presidential contest would be "the greatest Rigged Election in history."
Donald Trump said he never asked Ivanka and Jared Kushner to join his 2024 campaign. He said he told them not to be part of it because people would be "too mean and nasty." Recent reports have suggested that the pair are distancing themselves from Trump's politics. "Contrary to Fake News reporting, I never asked Jared or Ivanka to be part of the 2024 Campaign for President," Trump wrote on Truth Social, the social media platform he founded, on Monday. Ivanka did not attend her father's 2024 campaign launch in November, and later told the media that she does not have political ambitions.
Former President Donald Trump dined with Ye and Nick Fuentes, who have spewed antisemitic hate. Trump's son-in-law was once one of his closest advisors but has since distanced himself, New York magazine reported. Trump's now-infamous November dinner with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes sparked widespread controversy and condemnation. But they are not getting involved now, according to a new report from New York magazine. Another person speaking to New York Magazine said that perhaps Kushner felt a "familial obligation" to attend.
Ivanka Trump appeared "visibly upset" during the Capitol riot, the Jan. 6 committee report said. It said she attempted to persuade her father, then-President Donald Trump, to call off the rioters. The report also detailed how other aides tried to get Trump to stop the attack on the Capitol. It was 3 hours after the attack on the Capitol began that Trump finally issued a message telling his supporters to go home. The report argued that Trump was responsible for the attack, recommending that he be barred from office.
Hunter Biden has added a high-powered attorney to his legal team amid an ongoing federal probe and plans by Republicans to make him a key focus of investigations when they take control of the House next month. Abbe Lowell, of the firm Winston and Strawn, will be primarily responsible for coordinating Hunter Biden’s response to anticipated congressional oversight investigations, as well advising on other legal issues and overall strategy, an attorney for Hunter Biden told NBC News on Wednesday. "Hunter Biden has retained Abbe Lowell to help advise him and be part of his legal team to address the challenges he is facing,” the attorney, Kevin Morris, said. "Lowell is a well-known Washington based attorney has represented numerous public officials and high profile people in DOJ investigations and trials as well as Congressional Investigations. Mr. Lowell will handle congressional investigations and general strategic advice."

Replying to a user on Twitter later, Musk said "There is no successor" in reference to a possible change in CEO. Minutes before the poll, Musk apologized and tweeted "Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes." loadingFormer Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who recently invested in social media platform Nostr, replied to the Twitter support post with one word: "Why?". Last week, Twitter disbanded its Trust and Safety Council, a volunteer group formed in 2016 to advise the social media platform on site decisions. The policy change follows other chaotic actions at Twitter since Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla (TSLA.O), bought the social network.
New York CNN —Elon Musk may soon be on the lookout for a new chief executive to run Twitter. There is no successor.”If Musk were to look for a new Twitter CEO, he’d likely have many willing takers. Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder, CEO of Block and friend to Musk, has previously said he would not return to run the social network. The most obvious potential candidates for a new Twitter CEO are the Musk lieutenants who have been helping to run the company since his takeover. Who is insane enough to run twitter?!?

Elon Musk went to the World Cup final in Qatar on Sunday, and let the world know. Musk had banned – then unbanned – several journalists for tweeting about his private jet's location. Jordan, who runs a popular Formula 1 fan account, tweeted: "It appears Elon Musk has posted real time coordinates of the individuals shown in this video." And Lee Carter, a socialist and former Virginia delegate, said: "Looking forward to Elon Musk being banned for tweeting Elon Musk's real-time location." Argentina lifted the World Cup trophy after one of the tournament's most exciting finals, which saw two goals scored in extra time before Argentina won on penalties.
Hope Hicks, 34, was one of President Donald Trump's most trusted advisers. Hicks resigned from the White House on January 12, 2021, but told people it was a planned departure. She was one of the few White House aides who told Trump he lost the 2020 election. Before testifying in the investigation launched against her former boss' involvement in the Capitol riots, Hicks was the youngest White House communications director in history. She later rejoined the Trump White House as a counselor to the president, reporting to senior adviser and Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Elon Musk has been forced to make a tough choice: Tesla or Twitter. He's picking Tesla, which represents nearly half his $156 billion in estimated wealth, and the Twitter poll gave him a handy escape pod. That red ink wasn't as much of a problem when interest rates were low, and Tesla's shares were soaring. But as the Federal Reserve has aggressively hiked interest rates to curb inflation, using Tesla stock to pay off the debt on the Twitter buyout is a problem for Tesla. "Tesla is so much an Elon stock, it stands or falls because of him," Beauchamp said.
Twitter will no longer allow users to promote their accounts on at least seven other major social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram and Truth Social, the platform announced Sunday. "We recognize that many of our users are active on other social media platforms. However, we will no longer allow free promotion of certain social media platforms on Twitter," Twitter Support tweeted Sunday. Twitter’s rule change left out some major social media platforms, most notably TikTok. Other social media companies have few, if any, rules about users’ posting links to their accounts on other platforms.
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have seemingly distanced themselves from her father, Donald Trump. Mary Trump told MSNBC they are turning their backs on him because he is "losing value." Trump's niece said the couple "don't need" the former president like they used to. "Donald is definitely losing value in terms of the party, and in terms of politics generally," she added. "And Ivanka and Jared are legitimately wealthy people apart from whatever Donald is doing, so they don't need him to the same degree they might have."
CNN —The nominees for the 80th Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday. Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva, two of the stars from “Lopez vs. Lopez,” announced the range of film and television nominees as selected by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). Favored Oscars contender “The Banshees of Inisherin” led the film categories, with nominations including best musical or comedy film. It stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The ceremony, which was not broadcast last January over controversy surrounding the HFPA, will return to NBC on Jan. 10.
Michael Cohen said that Donald Trump won't apologize for failing to condemn Kanye West. The former president "doesn't care" that his daughter's family is Jewish, Cohen said on MSNBC. Cohen was asked about a Rolling Stone article that said Jewish Republicans are "begging" Trump to denounce Ye. Cohen responded: "He doesn't care that Ivanka married Jared, doesn't care that Ivanka converted. Cohen said Trump would not apologize for failing to condemn Ye because he "can't even acknowledge fault."
Donald Trump accused Jewish leaders of a lack of loyalty and claimed he was the best president for Israel. Trump has been widely criticized for having dinner with Nick Fuentes and Ye, who have made antisemitic comments. "How quickly Jewish Leaders forgot that I was the best, by far, President for Israel," Trump wrote. Trump, whose daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner are Jewish, has previously been called out for using antisemitic tropes himself. Since the dinner with Trump, Ye has made even more explicitly antisemitic comments, including saying that he likes Hitler and denying the Holocaust.
Participants who were offered cash incentives for either pounds lost or for completing certain activities were more likely to lose weight compared with those who were simply offered tools, such as diet books, fitness trackers and access to a weight loss program, the study found. On average, participants in the goal-directed group earned $440.44, as compared to $303.56 in the outcome-based group. “Even if less weight is lost, adopting lifelong physical activity or better eating habits may be more important,” she said. Kushner, who was not involved with the new study, agreed that low-income people face extra challenges when it comes to weight loss. What’s not clear, however, is how the strategy of offering cash for weight loss could be implemented in a real-world setting, outside of academia.
WASHINGTON — The House Jan. 6 committee will release transcripts of interviews investigators conducted in the course of their investigation into the attack on the Capitol, the panel's chairman, Bennie Thompson, said Wednesday. "We plan to make available transcripts and other materials," Thompson, D-Miss., told reporters on Capitol Hill. The chairman did not say whose interviews would be provided or specify the number of transcripts that would be released.
