India is set to see billions in inflows into the country's rupee-denominated government debt market, as state bonds make their debut on JPMorgan's emerging market index on Friday. This is reportedly the first time Indian government bonds have been included in a global index. India has seen foreign inflows to the tune of about $10 billion into its bond market over the past nine months since the announcement, Puneet Pal, head of fixed income at PGIM India Mutual Fund, told CNBC "Street Signs Asia." Last September, JPMorgan said the inclusion of Indian bonds in its Government Bond Index-Emerging Markets will be staggered over 10 months, starting from a 1% weightage in June to a maximum 10% in April next year. Pal said that over the medium- to long-term, the inclusion of Indian government bonds will have a positive impact across the bond markets.

London CNN —President Joe Biden had a shaky performance in last night’s presidential debate, triggering panic in the Democrat camp. Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, repeated multiple falsehoods while doubling down on his record of cutting taxes and hiking tariffs during his first presidential term. If repeated in a second Trump term, many economists fear that kind of agenda could stoke inflation at a critical moment and add to America’s rapidly growing debt mountain. That could pull the typical year-end election relief rally forward, said Ed Clissold, chief US strategist at Ned Davis Research. The US dollar has also been reactive — it edged higher as initial CNN polling found that Trump was viewed as the winner of the debate.

Preferred stocks can offer investors plenty of attractive income – and do so at a favorable tax rate – but they should proceed with caution before adding them to their portfolio. Preferred stocks are hybrid assets, combining attributes of bonds and equities, and their issuers include banks and utilities . He said these securities make up no more than 15% of his clients' fixed income allocation. Preferred investors would be paid before the stockholders, but they are well behind the bondholders in terms of priority. Here's where BlackRock sees opportunity in municipal bonds
  + stars: | 2024-06-26 | by ( Michelle Fox | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +3 min
Municipal bonds are a great way for investors to grab some tax-advantaged income, they'll just have to be nimble, according to BlackRock. "Municipal bonds offer investors high after-tax income with less volatility compared to other fixed income assets and remain a good diversifier to equity and equity-like risk," Carney said. Where BlackRock sees opportunity Within muni bonds, BlackRock specifically likes focusing on states that primarily rely on consumption taxes. Those states that focused on personal income taxes, like California and New York, experienced much greater declines, he said. Lastly, essential revenue bonds tend to be more durable since they are drawing on revenue.

MU YTD mountain Micron shares this year Nvidia's seemingly limitless rally stalled in recent sessions as investors took a break from semiconductor stocks. While it isn't a given that CEO Jensen Huang shows up at Nvidia's meeting, any commentary could provide an impetus for the stocks. Meeks noted that recent comments from Huang about AI chips during a trip to Asia spurred a bounce in shares. Comments could boost sentiment and convince investors the chip behemoth has yet to reach peak revenue, he added. Meeks called the selloff in chip stocks overdone, viewing a long-term runway for the AI theme at a reasonable valuation.

The launch of Jain Global has dominated industry gossip since its founder left Millennium Management, where the 53-year-old Jain was Izzy Englander's right-hand man, in late 2022. And more specifically, scalability without incremental cost," Jonathan Barton, the firm's chief operating officer, said in an interview with BI. Starting from a clean sheet of paper gave Jain Global certain advantages, said one senior banker who worked closely with the new manager as it built out its teams and systems. 3Forge, a specialty-software provider, worked with Jain Global to build the interface that connects all the systems for PMs, the risk team, and management. In five to 10 years, Jain Global hopes it won't need a sprawling business-development function because a strong talent pipeline will have developed inside the firm.

There's a lot to like about private credit right now, according to UBS. "We still have defaults very low on the private credit side, lower than what we're seeing on public. "With private credit, you don't know how things might change going forward," she explained. While there are some good players in private credit, there are others who are not, he said. Investing in BDCs Another way to get exposure to private credit is by investing in the public stocks of the business development companies, or BDCs, that are doing the private lending.

On average, the S & P 500 is usually up 2% 65 days before the first cut from the central bank following a hiking cycle, according to data from Strategas. But it's usually down by 1.5% 65 days after that initial rate reduction, implying that stocks may not be off to the races after the big announcement. In 1974, for example, the S & P 500 was down more than 8% in the 65 days prior and off by more than 25% in the same period following the cut. But in 1989, the broad index was up more than 12% in the 65 days preceding the rate reduction and still higher by more than 9% in the period after. Fed funds futures indicate a chance of at least one rate cut as early as September, with the potential for a second at the last meeting of the year in December, according to CMEGroup's FedWatch tool .

This valuation, however, wouldn't be based on Tesla's success as an electric vehicle manufacturer, but rather as a robotics company. While Musk didn't provide a specific timeframe for this claim, he also suggested Tesla could reach a $5 trillion to $7 trillion valuation as a robotaxi company. Interest rate cuts and continued earnings growth will power the Dow Jones to above 100,000 within the next decade. AdvertisementA powerful cocktail of earnings growth and interest rate cuts will serve as a "turbo booster" for stock prices and power the Dow Jones Industrial Average to over 100,000. And if the Fed doesn't cut interest rates this year, that won't derail Demmert's bullish forecast because earnings growth remains strong and resilient. "Yes, the AI tech stocks trade at much higher multiples than most stocks - but deservedly so given their premium growth rates," Demmert said. For the Dow Jones to hit 100,000, it would need to grow at a compounded annual growth rate of 11.2% over the next nine years.
