Still, the Trump campaign has long worried that Kennedy’s campaign, built on conspiracies and anti-vaccine rhetoric, pulled directly from their side, especially in a handful of key states. Women were more likely to support Kennedy than men, according to a recent Pew Research Center survey, though other polls haven’t shown a meaningful difference. As Kennedy’s campaign picked up support, Trump labeled the former Democrat a member of the “radical left” and attacked his environmental activism.

Edgar Bronfman Jr.'s offer for a controlling stake in Paramount Global could keep Shari Redstone close to the company, if his bid is successful. Both Bronfman's bid and Skydance's bid would also include money to buy out a percentage of Paramount Global common shareholders. The biggest chunk – about $1.9 million – was spent by Trump’s campaign and fundraising committees on a Trump-owned company that operates his jet. Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, said that “committees are paying the fair market rate for all venues and services” provided by Trump businesses. The dynamic of candidates shelling out thousands on Trump’s businesses while vying for his endorsement – which can make or break Republican campaigns – is an example of how politics has boosted his businesses’ bottom line. About 150 congressional candidates have reported spending campaign funds at Trump businesses, including some Democrats in the years before his first presidential bid. Walker’s campaign spent a total of nearly $215,000 at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club and his Las Vegas hotel.

When done as a way to work through friction with someone else or bond with a friend, venting can be helpful, she said. Because the study also found that venting in an aggressive or antagonistic way can actually cost you friends. Wilson said that how you vent makes a difference in how relatable it feels to the person you're venting to. To a mutual friend, "you're not a safe person if you're just purely gossiping to put someone else down," she said. It's one thing if you want to get a gut check from a mutual friend or brainstorm ways you can resolve an issue, Wilson said.

Read previewBack in the 80s and 90s, school shopping seemed straightforward and relatively inexpensive. As the parent of four children who's been back-to-school shopping for over a decade, I have realized the real key to surviving this time of year is being creative. With two in middle school and two in college, back-to-school shopping costs me almost as much as (if not more than) our family's most expensive holiday, Christmas. If nothing works out from last year's clothing, many secondhand stores will buy the kid's clothes that no longer fit. If they choose to spend more on school supplies, it will impact the amount they are allowed to spend on clothes.

New York CNN —CEOs of many of the biggest US hotel and travel companies are coming off a bit like doomsayers these days with their warnings about the declining health of consumers and their waning appetite for travel. Gary Hershorn/Getty ImagesMuch of the revenue growth that travel companies reported in recent years resulted from inflation, said David Tinsley, a senior economist at Bank of America Institute. “It was always going to be tough to expect travel spending to be showing the kind of momentum it showed 12 months ago,” he told CNN. “I don’t think the current situation is particularly bleak — it’s reasonable to see more normalization playing out,” he said, referring to travel spending getting back on par with pre-pandemic trends. Still, it’s not hard to see why this mixed picture is prompting travel companies to tread carefully.

Sakorn Sukkasemsakorn | Istock | Getty ImagesAbout 2.9 billion people may have had their personal information hacked, a new proposed class-action lawsuit alleges. If true, reports suggest all Americans may have had valuable personal information compromised — including full names, current and past addresses, Social Security numbers and information on parents, siblings and other relatives. In 2013, a Yahoo data breach may have hit all the company's accounts, or a total of 3 billion people. "Freezing your credit is the single most important thing you can do when you get a data breach notice," Lee said. AdvertisementAs someone who's also been dating through whatever it is we've been doing romantically since 2020, I've noticed that my dating costs are going through the roof. How much should a date cost? For alcohol-free drinkers, the average price of a coffee is about $6 in New York City, which is comparable with other markets. Meanwhile, an informal 2022 report found that the average cost of a full body wax was $152, and Cosmopolitan reported in January that low-end forehead Botox would cost you $300. But even with the high up-front cost of dating, getting into a long-term relationship might pay off in the long run.

But the widowed 78-year-old now has to skimp on her meals because her Social Security benefits haven’t kept up with the rising costs for food, housing and health care in recent years. Social Security benefits have lost 20% of their buying power since 2010, according to a recent analysis by The Senior Citizens League, an advocacy group. Every January, Social Security recipients get an annual cost-of-living adjustment, known as a COLA, but the increases often don’t keep up with the actual rise in prices – hurting senior citizens, many of whom live on fixed incomes and depend heavily on their Social Security benefits. Social Security benefits have risen by 58% between 2010 and 2024, but the cost of goods and services purchased by typical retirees jumped 73% during that time, the league said. For Albrecht, it feels like her Social Security benefits have lost more than 20% of their buying power.

Rivals are preparing consumers for a future of AI, but Google's Gemini features are real and are shipping — at least for testing purposes — now. Google's kickoff on Tuesday could put renewed pressure on Apple, as the two smartphone market leaders race to integrate AI into their operating systems. Google's most important presentation on Tuesday was Gemini Live, its next-generation assistant. The company said Apple's approach is less private than Google's, because Gemini "doesn't require hand-off to a third-party AI provider you may not know or trust."

The Murdoch family feud taking place in an obscure Nevada court highlights the state’s surging popularity as a global center of family trusts and a friendly home to the world’s biggest fortunes. The Western state’s fast-growing industry of trust and estate attorneys, trust companies and facilitators keeps a deliberately low profile. At the center of the Murdoch case is the Murdoch Family Trust, which holds the powerful voting shares in News Corp. and Fox Corp. that effectively control the companies. (The trust also contains the family farm in Australia, the Murdoch art collection and its Disney shares.) “Normally a family would have some ties in Nevada to establish trust, either living here or having real estate,” Tyrell said.
