Consumers who cut their cable cord in recent years are finding that there's one thing about linear TV they can't escape: political ads. With the U.S. presidential election less than 70 days away, campaigns are swarming streaming services like Roku and Hulu to such a degree that connected TVs are seeing more ad spending than internet platforms such as Facebook and Google . That's according to data provided to CNBC by political ad analytics firm AdImpact, which started tracking the connected TV (CTV) category in 2022. "When voters say they are watching TV, they don't' say 'I'm watching broadcast." AdImpact currently projects that overall political ad spending for the 2024 election cycle will be as high as $10.7 billion.

Google said it will soon allow users to create images of people using its Gemini artificial intelligence tool, after pulling the AI image generation option in February. "We've worked to make technical improvements to the product, as well as improved evaluation sets, red-teaming exercises and clear product principles," Citron wrote. Google paused its image generation feature earlier this year after saying it was offering "inaccuracies" in historical pictures. "Of course, as with any generative AI tool, not every image Gemini creates will be perfect, but we'll continue to listen to feedback from early users as we keep improving," Citron wrote. "We'll gradually roll this out, aiming to bring it to more users and languages soon."

They really just want to disintermediate all of pay TV and drive everyone to themselves. Fresh off a vicarious victory over Disney, Thun is still looking for revenge. For DirecTV, it's skinny bundles or bustDirecTV believes these strict bundling requirements are to blame for putting pay TV on life support. Without skinny bundles, pay TV is 'going to die'If skinnier bundles can't solve pay TV's woes, it's unclear what could.

Her job is narrowing down the most productive times for some of Google's top leaders, and her method is surprisingly pretty simple. But everyone has their "power hours," which Martin describes as "the two to three hours a day that you feel your most productive." Ideally, Martin said these power hours would be spent on tasks related to your top three priorities. If they partially overlap with other fixed commitments like mandatory meetings, Martin recommends blocking your power hours to whatever degree possible.

CNN —An Iranian hacker group targeted the WhatsApp accounts of individuals associated with the administrations of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Meta announced Friday. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Meta said its investigation linked the efforts to a group called “APT42,” known for using phishing tactics to steal credentials to people’s online accounts. Meta’s security team blocked a cluster of accounts posing as support agents for various tech companies, an activity it linked to APT42. CNN has reached out to both the White House and the Trump campaign for comment.

The campaign began earlier this year and stopped before President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race last month, a Meta spokesperson said. The WhatsApp accounts claimed to be tech support for companies like AOL, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, according to a Meta blog post. The same WhatsApp campaign also targeted users in Iran, Israel, Palestine and the United Kingdom, Meta said. However, the company would not necessarily know if a victim fell for the WhatsApp messages and gave the hackers valuable information that enabled access to their account. It’s unclear whether or how more of the hacked Trump files will surface before Election Day.

Meta said Friday that it blocked a "small cluster" of WhatsApp accounts linked to an Iranian hacking group that was targeting officials associated with President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The company said in a blog post that the bogus WhatsApp accounts appeared to originate from the Iranian threat actor dubbed APT42, which other tech companies like Google previously described as an "Iranian state-sponsored cyber espionage actor." Meta said its security team was able to spot APT42's involvement after analyzing suspicious messages that an unspecified number of users reported receiving from the fraudulent WhatsApp accounts. "These accounts posed as technical support for AOL, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft," Meta said in the blog post. In 2019, Microsoft said it had identified several hackers linked to the Iranian government who were believed to have targeted an unspecified U.S. presidential campaign in addition to other government officials and media.

A few weeks ago, I started asking left-leaning people their thoughts on slurs being peppered into everyday conversations. An inclusive eraKayla Cash, a 31-year-old PR manager, grew up using words she now considers offensive. Some of the language felt ubiquitous; she remembers the 2004 release of "Let's Get It Started," the Grammy-winning Black Eyed Peas hit that was originally released as "Let's Get Retarded." It was billed as discussions between two "bohemian layabouts" who called out performative aspects of progressive politics — while using language more often associated with the right, such as that offensive term for someone with intellectual disabilities. Looser language and new rulesEveryone I talked to for this story had rules for which words they would and wouldn't say.

I asked if perhaps this could be because a child was using a device that they shared with a grown-up. But the X app doesn't let you see tweets if you're not logged in, so it's not actually so easy to accidentally surf around. I don't think Qustodio just invented some fake numbers.
