A police officer in a Seattle suburb was found guilty on Thursday in the 2019 shooting death of a man outside a convenience store, the first such conviction under a Washington State law making it easier to hold the police accountable for the unjustified use of deadly force. A jury found the officer, Jeffrey Nelson, guilty of second-degree murder and first-degree assault for the killing of Jesse Sarey, 26, during an arrest on a disorderly-conduct charge outside Sunshine Grocery in Auburn, Wash., on May 31, 2019. Mr. Sarey’s mother, Kari Sarey Hart, and his younger brother, Torell Sarey, died as the case wound its way through the legal system, said Elaine Simons, 64, who was a foster mother to the brothers. In the study, published Monday in the medical journal JAMA Pediatrics, researchers reviewed nearly 150 studies on the relationship between social media and the mental health of adolescents. For Murthy, the urgency of the youth mental health crisis is dominant — and there’s enough evidence to act now. “There are certain benefits, but getting some benefits does not justify forcing kids to endure significant harm.”Still, social media is not the same as cigarettes. “To be clear, a warning label would not, on its own, make social media safe for young people,” he wrote.

CNN —Scientists have found microplastics in human penises for the first time, as concerns over the tiny particles’ proliferation and potential health effects mount. Microplastics are polymer fragments that can range from less than 0.2 inch (5 millimeters) down to 1/25,000th of an inch (1 micrometer). Ramasamy said he wasn’t surprised to find microplastics in the penis, as it is a “very vascular organ,” like the heart. Seven different types of microplastics were detected, with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) the most prevalent, according to the study. “We need to identify whether microplastics are linked to ED and if there is a level beyond which it causes pathology and what types of microplastics are pathologic,” he said.

On Tuesday, the 75-year-old monarch attended the inaugural awards of his King’s Foundation, so we thought, why not take our Royal News readers along with us? In other words, they were faking work, perhaps with the kind of mouse jiggler that you can buy online for $20. At any rate, some bankers over at Wells Fargo seem to have gotten caught last month. “And that’s a symptom of a much larger problem.”In Wells Fargo’s case, managerial mistrust would be understandable, given the bank’s history. Since then, Wells has been trying to reform its own internal culture while trying to repair its brand.

London CNN —Catherine, Princess of Wales, has said she is making “good progress” in her recovery from cancer, and will make her first public appearance in months at the King’s official birthday celebration on Saturday. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” the Princess, who is often known as Kate, said in a personal message released on Friday. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months,” Kate wrote. It represents a significant moment in the Princess’s recovery, marking her first public appearance since Christmas Day – weeks before her cancer diagnosis. Neither royal has specified the type of cancer they are receiving treatment for, or revealed details about their progress.
