Here's a rapid-fire update on all 35 stocks in Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust, the portfolio we use for the CNBC Investing Club. Coterra Energy (CTRA): At roughly 10 times forward earnings, Jim said he'd classify Coterra shares as dirt cheap. Estee Lauder (EL): We're downgrading Estee Lauder to a 2 rating Wednesday, meaning we're no longer recommending investors buy the stock at current levels. But we're sticking with Estee Lauder because eventually we expect China's economy to turn around, and with it EL's stock price. The semiconductor firm, which has seen its stock price nearly triple this year, is reportedly considering taking a long-term stake in chip designer Arm Holdings.

July 10 (Reuters) - Constellation Brands' (STZ.N) Modelo Especial was the top-selling beer brand in the United States for a second consecutive month in June, after first dethroning Anheuser-Busch InBev's (ABI.BR) Bud Light in May. Modelo Especial was the top-selling beer brand for the four weeks ended July 1, with an 8.7% share of overall beer sales through retail stores for the period, while Bud Light came in second with a 7% share, according to consulting company Bump Williams, which sources data from NielsenIQ. Sales of Bud Light and Budweiser dropped 28% and 11.7%, respectively, from a year earlier, while Modelo Especial sales rose 8.5%. Azer added that consumers had quickly figured out AB InBev's other beer brands like Michelob Ultra and Natural Light, which are also seeing a fall in sales. Before the backlash, Natural Light was gaining due to cost-conscious consumers opting for cheaper six-packs.

New York CNN —Mexican-made Modelo Especial is the top-selling beer in the United States for the second straight month, once again snatching the crown from Bud Light. Dollar sales for the pre-July 4 period continued to be grim for Bud Light, with sales falling 28.5%, while Modelo’s grew 8.5% during the same time period. Bud Light initially lost the title last month, which it has largely held for two decades. In June, Bud Light rolled out a new marketing campaign to help turn around sales, centering around country music and NFL players. However, Bud Light continues to be the country’s top-selling beer year to date, holding 8.7% share of the beer market.

While the natural inclination is to cheer a strong jobs market, investors are responding with a boo and bailing out of risk assets. The thinking goes like this: If people are at work and the labor market is stronger than expected, the ability of the consumer to absorb higher prices is also greater than previously thought. If the ability to absorb higher prices is greater than expected, above target (2%) inflation can last longer than estimated, regardless of the current fed funds rate. If the current fed funds rate isn't stopping hiring and consumers' ability to absorb higher prices, the rate simply isn't high enough. Energy is tough: We really need China's reopening to pick up as demand will be the key to higher energy prices.

We were glad to see Wall Street analysts follow our price target increase.

June 30 (Reuters) - Constellation Brands (STZ.N) first-quarter results topped Wall Street expectations on Friday, as the Corona beer maker benefited from higher pricing and steady demand for its alcoholic beverages. Constellation’s beer business posted an 11% increase in sales in the quarter ended May 31, mainly on strong growth across Modelo Especial, the Modelo Chelada brands as well as Corona Extra. Modelo Especial dethroned Anheuser-Busch InBev's (ABI.BR) Bud Light as the top selling beer in the U.S. in June after the latter faced backlash over a social media promotion with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Constellation net sales rose more than 6% to $2.52 billion, beating analysts' average estimate of $2.47 billion, according to Refinitiv IBES data. The company's first-quarter profit of $2.91 per share beat analysts' average estimate of $2.83 as per IBES data from Refinitiv.

Mike Moore | Getty Images Entertainment | Getty ImagesBud Light's ill-fated Dylan Mulvaney collaboration dominated conversations among marketers gathered in southern France for the Cannes Lions advertising festival this week. But according to Sarah Kate Ellis, president and CEO of LGBTQ+ rights organization GLAAD, Bud Light's lack of engagement did exactly that. "What Bud Light did was they had a trigger response and they ended up alienating everyone," Ellis told CNBC's Tania Bryer Wednesday. In May, Bud Light lost its top spot in the U.S. beer market, falling behind Constellation Brands' Modelo after sales slumped 24.6% year over year. CNBC's Jim Cramer gave investors his game plan for the week ahead, with big names such as Nike and Walgreens set to report. However, with its 6% dividend yield, Cramer is wondering whether its stock could shoot up if its report lines up with consensus estimates. Cramer thinks this stock will be undervalued now compared with next year because generative artificial intelligence uses a lot of memory. Thursday will bring results from Nike , which Cramer said is the most important company to report this week. He wondered whether an electric tractor could overcome the objections. Mr. Mondavi’s role in the development was to offer the farmer’s point of view, assessing each design idea for its practical appeal. “This is the hardest work I’ve ever done — seven days a week, day and night,” he said. Corporate boycotts clash with political reality
  + stars: | 2023-06-15 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
WASHINGTON, June 15 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Republicans are firing from the hip when it comes to corporate boycotts. Conservative Americans’ changing beer habits may have contributed to Bud Light being pulled from its spot as the number one beer in the United States for the first time in more than two decades. In May, Bud Light sales dropped a quarter compared to the same month last year, consulting companies Bump Williams and NielsenIQ said Wednesday. As conservatives encourage consumption based on political views, they may in some cases pull cash from their own pockets. They do not reflect the views of Reuters News, which, under the Trust Principles, is committed to integrity, independence, and freedom from bias.

Bud Light trailed with a 7.3% share. Bud Light sales fell 24.6% in the period year over year, while Modelo sales jumped 10.2%, the data shows. Still, the Anheuser-Busch InBev brand Bud Light leads U.S. beer sales so far this year, according to Bump Williams. The company's shares have dropped nearly 15% since the start of April, when Mulvaney posted a video of a personalized Bud Light can, which sparked anti-LGBTQ+ outrage. The boycott against Bud Light comes as state and federal politicians increasingly push to claw back the rights of trans people.
