FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Zach Wilson was in the middle of the locker room Thursday talking about taking over for the injured Aaron Rodgers when a teammate shouted and made the New York Jets quarterback grin. Wilson struggled mightily during his first two NFL seasons and his confidence took a massive hit, and so did his popularity in the locker room. The way he’s carrying himself around the locker room, around the building is awesome.”Wilson feels it in himself, too. Many Jets fans remain skeptical Wilson has made significant enough progress to step in for a team that had Super Bowl hopes with Rodgers. The Jets want Wilson to play free, knowing the team is his — again — and he doesn't need to look over his shoulder.

Sep 11, 2023; East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA; New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (8) is injured while being sacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd (56) during the first half at MetLife Stadium. The New York Jets quarterback went down with the injury four plays into his highly-anticipated debut with the Jets on Monday, leading some to wonder whether it could spell the end of the 39-year-old's playing career. "I'm completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love," Rodgers said in a post on Instagram. "Proud of my guys, 1-0," Rodgers said in the post, which included photos of him from the game. Future Hall of Famer Rodgers joined the Jets in a blockbuster offseason deal after 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

CNN —Aaron Rodgers’ arrival in the MetLife Stadium on Monday night signaled that change and hope were on the way for the New York Jets, but it turns out that this season’s long-awaited new era has suffered a significant setback. However, just four snaps into Rodgers’ New York career, disaster struck. Gang Green forced four turnovers from Bills quarterback Josh Allen – a fumble to go along with three interceptions by Jordan Whitehead. Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (17) celebrates with teammates after catching a pass for a touchdown during the fourth quarter. Wilson throws a pass under pressure from the Bills' pass rush.

“But artificial surfaces are acceptable for our own players,” Howell said. The NFLPA in April pointed to studies from 2012-22 that it says show a significant increase in non-contact injuries on artificial surfaces vs. grass fields. He said some artificial surfaces are softer, creating more wobble when the foot hits the ground. It's for the good of the players & the game itself.”A new artificial surface was installed this year at MetLife Stadium. The Titans cited NFL data that put Nissan Stadium among the league leaders for games with players having lower-body injuries.

Philadelphia overpowered the Vikings on both sides of the ball in a convincing 24-7 victory on Monday night in Week 2 last season. Hurts threw for 333 yards, the offense racked up 486 yards and the defense held Minnesota to 264 yards. "It makes no sense that stadiums can flip over to superior grass surfaces when the World Cup comes, or soccer clubs come to visit for exhibition games in the summer, but inferior artificial surfaces are acceptable for our own players." Aaron Rodgers has a torn left Achilles tendon, according to a person familiar with the diagnosis, and the quarterback likely will miss the rest of the New York Jets' season. NFL Network first reported Rodgers tore the Achilles tendon, confirming the Jets’ fears. “Concerned with his Achilles,” Saleh said after the Jets’ 22-16 overtime win over Buffalo on Monday night. The situation evoked eerily similar memories of 1999, when Vinny Testaverde — who, coincidentally, was the Jets’ honorary captain Monday night — ruptured his Achilles tendon early in New York’s season opener against New England. Like this year’s squad, those Jets had Super Bowl aspirations after going to the AFC championship game the previous season.

CNN has reached out to the Jets and Rodgers’ representatives for details. He was attended to by Jets medical staff before being helped off the field at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, making his debut with the New York Jets, is sacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd. The Jets built absolutely everything in their team, in their season, the entire organization shaped around Aaron Rodgers and he deserved it.

After the game the Jets said Rodgers would have an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of his injury. The Jets did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for an update on Rodgers but the team wished him well in his recovery on social media platform X, formerly called Twitter. But the trajectory of the franchise changed immediately with the acquisition of Rodgers, whose arrival saw the Jets' Super Bowl odds surge after the trade.

The early verdict: Disney gave up less than expected — but made concessions that could eventually remake the pay-TV business. Disney will gain more reach for its streaming services, which the company views as a vital part of its future. Charter also agreed to provide ESPN+ (largely a companion to its cable-channel sibling) as part of its sports-focused bundle. More important, when Disney finally introduces a direct-to-consumer version of ESPN that includes streaming of big sports events, the broadband provider can also offer that to its consumers.

New York's 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills was the most-watched Monday night game since ESPN took over the package in 2006. The Jets have five more prime-time appearances scheduled, but two can be subbed out due to the league's flexible schedule rules. Those are the Nov. 12 "Sunday Night Football” game at Las Vegas on NBC and the Dec. 28 “Thursday Night Football” game at Cleveland on Amazon Prime Video. NBC can't begin to flex Sunday night games until Week 5, meaning the Jets' Oct. 1 game against Kansas City will not be moved. The “Monday Night Football” flex option begins in Week 12, three weeks after the Jets host the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 6.

Aaron Rodgers got the news on Tuesday that was widely feared since he departed the Jets’ Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills: He had torn his left Achilles tendon and will miss the season, the league said in a social media post. But the star quarterback was sacked just three and a half minutes into his first game at MetLife Stadium on Tuesday. Though he stood for a moment after being felled by Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd, he soon sat down on the turf. He was helped to the sideline then carted off to the locker room and TV cameras showed Rodgers wearing a protective boot. On Tuesday, the league said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, citing two N.F.L.

It is the second serious injury Dobbins has suffered in his short NFL career after he tore his ACL, ruling him out of the 2021 season entirely.
